I've embedded a URL for an animated GIF of a Salvia penstemonoides flower and calyx. It fluxes between the scanned image of the flower and a pseudo pen and ink/watercolor I created using Photoshop.
The purpose is to bring out details, such as foliar reticulation, veins, and substructures of the flowers, calyxes and leaves.
I'd love to get your comments on how to improve the images and make them more useful. There are two more in the thread on Hot Lips, used to differentiate between the foliage of Salvia semiatrata and Salvia mexicana Lollie Jackson
