Verbena x hybrida Mango question
Comments (3)Imagination has been one I have had come back by seed, but it's not quite the same animal as the common broad-leaved ones like the hybridas. The thing about imagination I believe making them more prone to returning is that they do not seem to need the constant whacking back to keep them in bloom. Most annual verbenas need to be whacked to keep them in bloom, and so do not have the opportunity to set seeds. I have never had the broad-leaved verbenas return, either. As goblugal said if you got it to, I imagine you would not get any consistant babies who looked like the parent plant....See MoreQuestions about Verbena
Comments (1)I have some that do both grow upright and also trail down. They can fill out a hanging basket on their own nicely though they don't trail as much as a petunai would. I have planted some with petunias and some osteospermum before both combos are nice. Paula...See MoreVerbena x hybrida question
Comments (2)What soil are they planted in? Looks like fertilizer burn. Do you have drainage holes for water to run out? Fertilizer salts can accumulate and burn leaf tips. Also, you need to deadhead (cut or pinch off) all those dead flowers so the plants will continue to produce more flowers. Your plants aren't dying. Just rinse the soil and pinch....See MoreA question about Poppy Seeds
Comments (4)Hi northerner_on :) Okay, you are in a zone above me but I imagine us to not be too far different. My pods were ready for harvesting I think a few months ago so I believe yours would be by now!! As long as the heads are brown and dried out, then the seeds should be ready :) With the rain, I'd just make sure the seeds are fully dry before storing. ( I actually leave seed collecting for another day when it rains cuz mother nature I find, is much better at drying them faster then indoors, where they might mold) As far as color, I also grew those kind of poppies but I would not describe my seeds as black completely. shades of brown if I look closely at mine. I'd say to keep them and try them no matter what tho lol ;) Hope this helps a little!! ~Michael heavenlyfarm Here is a link that might be useful: Includes a pic of poppy seeds in her hand...See Moreremy_gw
