Thanks - it's been red for a couple weeks now, pod isn't shriveled yet but dark red and not as plump as the others. Wasn't sure if I needed to let it dry on the plant. Squirrel (or something) was digging in the pot! I had 2 Hinkelhatz plants on 1 end of porch hoping to get some isolation (Thai on other end), this one was dug up and the other has what looks like little turds (pardon my language) on it so I don't know if I'll be able to overwinter them or not. I took the dug-up one (still standing, just top of root ball exposed) into the garage and added potting soil/compost mix. May be a ? for another thread, but wondering if I can overwinter the other one if you're supposed to chop it down to a stump (no leaves?) and repot into a smaller pot. Don't want to bring slugs or whatever they are into the house! Thanks

There are over 100 green-when-ripe tomato varieties and as is often mentioned on the Growing Tomatoes forum, it is almost impossible to name a variety from a photo simply because at least 50 of that 100 look the same. The link below provides photos of most of the 100 varieties and you can go through the photos to compare with yours to see if that helps. But yes, if they were a heirloom variety and assuming there was no cross-pollination when you grew them then the odds at 9:1 that they will reproduce true from the seed you saved. It doesn't matter what tomatoes you save them from as long as they are ripe. It is also important to save seeds from a few tomatoes if possible for a couple reasons. One is one tomato may not have lots of viable seeds, and two, crossing is low with tomatoes, but you don't want to get unlucky and have picked that tomato one with crossed seeds. Remy

You should be able to find tomatoes sold in the store. Buy a nice one and save the seeds. There does appear to be 2 different ones. Ugly and Ugly Ripe. You may want one or both. They come from very different genetics.
