Apricot Greggii From Seeds???

I just purchased a beautiful apricot greggii and got a few seeds from it today..can anyone tell me if it will come true from seeds?

From what I've read, propagation is by cuttings if you want to keep the same color. Otherwise, seeds may bring variable colors.

Try a few anyway...some might come true.

There is always a chance that you might get a better form! This happens quite frequently!

But, some might also be inferior.

Al, Can you comment further on that? The OP suggestion surely wouldn't result in graft incompatibility. Manchurian apricot is a common rootstock for apricot and I've not noticed any problems yet with mine. Is there some root issue that would occur using a random seedling apricot rootstock? Here's a pic of some I started in early winter in my south window in gallon pots (sorry for the poor quality). They're only about a foot tall, but as you can see, have lots of leaves, so I'm a little confused and worried about yours losing their leaves! Anyway, I would put yours into gallon pots and cut them back to discourage the legginess. Putting them outside is fine after last frost, especially once you cut them back since they won't have any leaves to get shocked by the change, and then the new leaves when/if they come will be adapted to the conditions outside... I don't know, beeone, we've just had a very cold winter and it's still cold, to my mind, we like to think we have a mild climate, and that was true of the last few years, but perhaps it's changing. I had two potted apricots about four years ago and even though I had them in a tunnel, they died at about three years old. I sowed 12 seeds this year (I bought them on Ebay and the seller wrote that she had stratified them - I clarified with her that she had kept them in a fridge - I never did this before with apricot seeds which I sowed from supermarket fruit) - out of the 12 I bought only one has emerged so far, two weeks ago - and I see no stir from the others. This one is going to be kept very sheltered in the winter. It's growing very fast, this lone survivor.

Orange Door and Zaragoza, another Yucca-Do microphylla, both show the fading effect on the flowers as they persist on the plant and age.

Is it Salvia x jamensis `Pat Vlasto'? That is the best form I've seen for color.

I only this pic of my "fruity" S. x jamensis. Sometimes, it appears to be an apricot color, sometimes peachy....salmon? Whatever, I love it! :)

My best guess is Salvia greggii `San Takao', followed by `Lowry's Peach'. The latter is uniformly orange, though. `San Takao' does seem to change color a bit.

That's a beautiful pic..but this one is much lighter in color..was labeled apricot..I hate that, but was so pretty I couldn't resist..Robin in the UK has a peach on his web page..probably similiar to a peachy color..not the beautiful dark color in the pic.

Very pretty salvia pic. Last year I bought a dark peach color greggii, I'm pretty sure it was labeled Navajo salmon. I also had a purple with the Navajo label.
