My garden so far..stalemate

Hi! Well..I understand a few things about my roses this year. I sure understand why Living Easy is so popular. It is disease resistant..blooms last along time and are slightly fragrant. My Austin, Lady Emma Hamilton..OMG..she is a beauty..wonderful fragrance. My Valencia..although not blooming right now has huge blooms. My Julia Child...she's in a pot is blooming and she looks great. So far, in the new rose garden has Sky's the limit..Vavoom..it has been in shock, is finally growing. It is caddy corner from Sky..I have Marvelle..a wonderfull rose..finally blooming and it has a bit of pink that I was not expecting..each bloom is different and the light yellow blends nice with the light yellow Sky. Then Crown Princess in the back..Emma in front. I have not yet planted my Sunset Celebration yet. I want to see it bloom before I plant it. So where to go from here..Plant Julia and Living Easy in there somewhere? I was planning on going toward pinks and then I wanted to plant a few John Pauls and some red blends..Double Delights..this far down they will be right next to my patio. I have considered Brandy, Halloween, Granada, Caribbean, Heart of Gold. Pat Austin? Can't decide yet. Good news is that I don't have to decide now

piccies Iris, we need piccies! for our rose gallery. That way everyone can add their thoughts and opinions for Brandy, Granada, etc.... Besides I want to see your Lady Emma Hamilton. I am so jealous because I tried to order LEH beginning of April and they were sold out everywhere I looked! I was hopping mad! And I wanted to see how your designer garden was coming along...My starter garden is a bit too hideous to put here in the photo gallery because of my jungle gladiolus, so I will plop them to the other regular rose forum, lol; whereas I'm sure yours is lookin' gorgeous!

Everything is from seed. About 50 variety of peppers. 300 plants. Then onion and sunflower. Squash, zucchini, cantaloupe, watermelon, corn ,cucumber, okra , beans, sweet potato, and tomato. Hopefully I'll be off work Saturday and can actually finish everything. Yes I probably will be selling. That's going to be a lot of vegetables lol.

Lois, The nursery that is down the street from me in Aiken, it's called Cold Creek Nursery. You must have a privatly owned nursery near you, just pay them a visit, sometimes they will order one for you if you want. That is what is nice going to a privately owned place vs. a big box place. The orange is very common, but the red and yellow, now that is a real show stopper, and hummers are really attracted to it. Mine was seeding and I let the seeds scatter, I am sorry, I whould have collected some and I could send you some seed. I sure hope it comes back next year, I'm going to muclh it real good, you never know. But if it doesn't, you know I'll be buying more next spring. And collecting the seeds this time....darn.

It's amazing how huge roses get here. It is mid-November and they are still in a more or less perpetual flush covered with buds and blooms. Back in CT I would have long since given up for the year. However, the cool nights are slowing them down and they are looking a bit ragged so the time is coming for a major pruning job as well as replacement of the worst powdery mildew magnets.

Beautiful flowers and setting! I love seeing the full bushes in their contexts, and the roses look fantastic against your house setting. The purple underplantings are perfect, and they really set your roses off to best advantage. I agree that I've never seen Munstead Wood climb that well but it looks fantastic. And my word, that is one huge Belinda's Dream bloom! Just lovely. Cynthia
