Wildlife/Gardens in Myrtle Beach?

Hey everyone,

I'll be staying down at the beach this next week (Jan. 20-26). Aside from Brookgreen, are there any other good outdoor activities that would be good day-trips? Also, any good areas for someone to run? (I prefer trails, but parks and roads always work) Any ideas from locals or frequent visitors would be good too; I hate going to franchise/tourist traps, but could roam around an estate or historical site for hours. Thanks in advance.
