Howdee,

Spaghetti, Salsa, tomato sauce, chilli, fried green tomatoes, and so much more. I have even seen recipes of cookies and of breads with tomatoes and peppers in them. There are so many varieties of tomatoes and peppers they so deserve there own swap.

This Swap will be only for TOMATOES and PEPPERS only.

Please add one of your favorite tomato or pepper recipes with your mailer.

This swap must receive 10 sign ups before it will be a go.

NOW THE RULES

Tomato or pepper seeds only.

All seeds must be clearly marked and packed correctly. The more info the better.

All seed packages should contain at least 10 seeds.

You will receive at least the amount of packages you send in most likely more..

You must send a wish list if your except to receive certain seeds back.

You must attach the correct amount of postage to the self addressed stamped bubble mailer or address labels and stamps to get the mailer back to you.

Must use bubble mailer. SEEDS CRUSH

You must send your full name on the mailer , mailing address, garden web name and email address on a card or added to your lists. This helps me a lot. Emailing it too me works as well

A list of seeds you sent is recommenced. This helps so you donÂt get your own seeds back..

One person must not send in more than 2 copies of one certain seed.

One person must not send in more than 50 seed packages.

No side trades will be accepted.

all mailers are due at my house by February21st . Packages will be filled in order of arrival.

All mailers will leave my house headed back to you by March 7th

Sorry for all the rules it just makes a better and more organized swap and a lot easier if rules are involved. With only my self doing the swap as much information I can get is the best.

Howdee there Sorry about the confusion booberry and patti. All better now? :-) I have been pretty busy with this or that gosh I cant believe its febuary all ready. I forgot what recipes I sent in, but here's a couple for tomatoes, peppers and one for a zucchini yeast bread. Panzanella This is an Italian bread salad. The Italians make it to use up stale bread. I make it to use up cherry tomatoes (I use halved cherry tomatoes). Ingredients Salad 1 1⁄2 pounds ripe tomatoes (about 3) 1 shallot, minced 4 cloves garlic, minced 1⁄3 cup extra-virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar 1 tablespoon kosher salt 1 cup fresh basil leaves Panzanella croutons Freshly ground black pepper Panzanella Croutons ¼ cup unsalted butter 1 tablespoon minced garlic 6 cups cubed day-old bread (½-inch cubes) Salt and ground black pepper to taste 6 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan Core the tomatoes and, if large, cut them into chunks; if small, halve or quarter them (I slice the cherry tomatoes in half). Toss them gently with the shallot, garlic, oil, vinegar, 1 tablespoon salt, and pepper. Set aside until the tomatoes are very juicy, about 10 minutes. Add croutons and give a give toss. Tear the basil over the salad and toss gently. (The bread salad can be served now or set aside at room temperature for a couple of hours.) For the croutons, preheat oven to 375 degrees F and preheat a cookie sheet in it. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat and cook until it foams. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add the bread cubes and toss to coat with the butter. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer the bread to a baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle with the cheese and toss again while warm to melt the cheese. Bake, stirring once or twice, until the croutons are crisp and lightly colored on the outside but still soft within, about 8 or 9 minutes. Let cool. Store in an airtight container. Tortellini Salad with Pine nuts This recipe is from Picnic! By Edith Stovel. This serves 8. Ingredients Salad 2 lbs fresh tortellini pasta (spinach, cheese or mushroom fillings work well) 1 cup green bell pepper, chopped 1 cup red bell pepper, chopped 1 cup green onion, chopped ½ cup pine nuts ½ cup chopped fresh basil ¼ cup chopped fresh dill ¼ cup chopped grated parmesan cheese Dressing ¼ cup balsamic vinegar 1 garlic clove, minced ¼ teaspoon salt Ground black pepper ¾ cup olive oil Follow directions for cooking tortellini. Drain and place in a large bowl. Mix in remaining salad ingredients. For dressing, combine vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Whisk in oil until well combined. Pour dressing over tortellini and chill. Zucchini Bread This is a little more work than the quick version. In the heart of zucchini season, youll enjoy this bread fro a change. This recipe is adapted from a Taste of Home flyer. Makes 1 loaf. 1 tablespoon dry active yeast ½ cup warm water ⅓ cup warm milk ⅓ cup sugar 3 tablespoons butter, softened 2 tablespoons grated orange peel ½ teaspoon salt 1 ½ cups shredded zucchini ⅓ cup raisins ¾ cup whole wheat flour ¾ cup all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice (or a blend of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and mace) 1 ⅔ to 2 ⅓ cups bread flour In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Beat in the milk, sugar, butter, and orange peel. Mix well. Add the zucchini, raisins whole wheat floor, all-purpose flour, salt and pumpkin pie spice. Add enough bread flour to form a soft dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface (5-10 minutes) until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 ½ hours). Punch down dough and shape into a loaf. Place into a greased 9x5x3 inch pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees F for 40 to 45 minutes.

THIS SWAP IS A GO.

Please note that I have no problems having both swaps being shipped in same mailer. Just seperate each swap with bag. so if you send in seeds for both swaps you should send in two wish lists and two seed lists. One for each swap Example one seed list and one wish list for tomato pepper swap and one wish list and one seed list for squash it up swap.

SORRY I dont wish to bump up the amount of single varities sent in. The max 2 packs per variety will help so no one get too many duplicates.

If you have any question please post here so I can keep it straight.

Ah! Dumb Squirrels dumped my winter sowing containers over! Jeese now I gotta start from scratch! Do we have to include a recipe? Cause in my family we never cook tomatoes we eat them raw, and for peppers we only use them in salads. Hopefully I want to maybe try a salsa or maybe a tomato sauce this year! I cant wait to get some kewl tomatoes and peppers!Hmmm can I ask a question? Just for kicks whats your favorite tomato and pepper and why?

Mine is a Pink Oxheart Tomato mainly because I love the texture and its the best for sandwhiches! As for peppers I dont have a favorite....

Kamil, you can do a search on google for tomato or tomato/pepper recipes. See which ones sound good and include one of them. We normally eat tomatoes raw too, but I also like to use fresh tomatoes instead of canned when I have them growing, for sauces and mixed up heated veggies. There are a number of rice dishes and also simple UNCOOKED salads etc recipes you can use tomatoes and peppers in.

Salsa recipes would work. There's a bunch of them online or something you're thinking of doing :) hope it helps. Nothing said it had to be cooked

That does leave room for one more. I would contact Gardenmom2 but She does not have an email attached to her garden web.

Soo there is room for one more or two more if you really want in.

My favorite tomato is prolly chico lll paste becasue its soo prolific and I make tons of sauce and can alot. For eatimg I like Pale perfect purple or black prince.

Also a recipe is not a HAVE TO thing I just thought it might make it fun.

I think I should have close to the limit on this one. I have 26 or so so far, but as soon as my tomato swap comes in (shouldnt be too much longer, I hope it gets here in time), I should have more. I'll be receiving 20-some packets from that, and since the seed requirements were 12-15 seeds, and I only want 2-3 of each, I should have more for this swap.

P.s. if anyone has any peter pepper, I would love some of those.

Yotetrapper - Great you almost have the limit :) more to choose from for us all.

easttexasgardener - Lovely you sent early you will have a beter selection to choose from.

Yep thats right all my swaps are a first come first serve (as listed in the rules) you may not get all that is on your wish list. Of corse you will get a few BUT those who send in early get a better selection so get those mailers filled and ship them out to get the BEST selection.
