I think Firefighter is a nice red rose, but my favorite thing about it is the wonderful fragrance.

Nice capture! I saw this red in spring and its color, beauty and fragrance placed it well above the other reds (Veteran's Honor (prettier in bud), Always and Forever, Oh My! (nice looking floribunda but not as bewitching), and a couple others. I hope yours does well and we see lots of pictures!

Carol, can't take any credit for this one! I must thank the bees and the supplier for leaving the hips on the bare root rose that I ordered. What I do know now is that Stephen is a good hip parent and the seeds have good germination. Judy, about 11 weeks. I had the seeds in the fridge before sowing in the beginning of Jan and had the first SR seedling bloom under lights the first week of April.

Thank you for the kind words. Therese generally has one big bloom for me with scattered later blooms. She was one of my "firsts" with roses with my original plant having been purchased around 2002 or so. I do have a picture of that original bush on HMF. She's graceful and her red canes are lovely any season. Completely tip hardy here too. Steven

Bali Watercolor, sun and well shaded by me. Bloom seems extra large this year, it is liking its new spot Mixed Berry Jam was a bonus last year. Smaller flower, I will give it another year to see how it does. It has multiplied well, I know not a good picture here. Diamond Shores was new last spring. Like most i got in the spring, it did not bloom til now. I like it, it is shorter I think than it should be. Supposed to have a pretty high bud count, maybe in a year or 2. I think I have already posted Raspberry Quasar, but I thought it looked quite pretty with a cooler morning.

I just bought Firefighter!!! Had to cut back a lot of blackened growth - but I'm excited about it. I'm really excited to have it confirmed that it has great fragrance.

Love your huge happy rose!!! Looks like a winner.

Thank you everyone. Denise and Carol - Unless you both have a different experience than I have had, I believe Firefighter is a great rose, but does take some patience. Mine is taking awhile to get going, but it looks healthy. Next year will be its third year, so hopefully it will be more vigorous. Good luck!

Nice bud! This was my favorite red this spring at the nursery. Veteran's Honor had prettier buds, Always and Forever had excel color but didn't care for the form, Oh My! had an orange cast ..... then I spotted Firefighter. Yes to color, form acceptable, and then the fragrance. Wow. If it had a bud as pretty as yours I would have bought it on the spot. Still thinking of it. Would love to see more pictures as the season progresses.

Iris - This is a picture of Let Freedom Ring, I think the color is just about perfect, but sometimes I have detected an orange cast. Unfortunately it has no fragrance, but it does have a long vase life.

Thank you Iris and Kousa - To me Firefighter's fragrance is similar to Chrysler Imperial, but maybe a little stronger at times.
