Mine are at the end of their 2nd year. They suffered a little over the winter and I had to cut the cains way back. They have been slow to grow, but I am hoping that the 3rd year is the charm. I can't bring myself to shovel prune yet because when they bloom they are magnificent, but the plant is not as hardy as I would want. It also blackspots easily for me, but I live in Central Alabama.

I don't know how much larger roses grow in your part of the country, but here is the midwest, Elle stays somewhat shorter (and a bit wider) than my other HTs (like Double Delight, for instance). I would describe Elle as more of a peachy-pink blend (rather than a salmon pink)--with a touch of yellow at the base--lovely pastel blend, in fact--good smeller--reasonably good on disease-resistance--a really fine rose, in other words. You should give it a good look before dismissing it. It doesn't re-bloom quite as fast as some of my other HTs (again, as quickly as Double Delight does), but it isn't bad in that respect, and the blooms are fairly long-lasting. I really like Elle. Don't know anything about the other two you list, so can't help you there. Kate

I am very partial given my challenging growing environment, so head my advice accordingly. I have attempted to grow Peace on a few occasions, each time has solidified my nick-name for Peace: Piece of... BellaRoma is much more fragrant, yes, I have had Peace roses that have been mildly fragrant, and a whole lot easier to grow. Your climbing Peace should be fun, so don't be discouraged. On another note, many people confuse Peace with it's progeny Chicago Peace. Chicago Peace is much easier to grow but does NOT have fragrance (at least not for me, and I've grown three at different times from two different sources). Good luck.
