Time to start Manzanos?

I am in Coastal Southern California and cant want to start some seeds. I would like to begin with some Manzanos, it is too early? It will be my first full winter here, but I don't expect any below freezing temperatures. I would love to get some advice on when to start seeds here. Is there a downside to starting extra early in temperate climates?

Thanks!

In case anyone is interested, I might as well post my preliminary list of new plants for next year:

Aji Lemondrop

Manzano

Guam Boonie

Bhut Jolokia

Fatalii

Bailey Pequin

Prig Kee Nuu

Various Thai varieties from local markets

I'm also growing Thai basil, kalamansi and makrut citrus
