Let's See Your New Ones, or New for You!

Isn't it fun to see the new ones bloom, or the ones that hadn't reached their full potential before? So,let's see 'em! Here's some of mine so far:

First - here's HAPPY BUTT - two shots, one early and one open a few days.

Here's the first bloom of one of the new floribundas I got from Pickering. It is FOR YOU WITH LOVE.

Here's the first bloom on CALLIOPE, a band from Vintage Gardens.

This one is not new, but gets better every year. It is MARIA SHRIVER. It won Most Fragrant at the Spring Rose Show, too!

Even though it takes a long time for Heirloom bands to grow into their own, this second year ROBERT CLEMENTS, looks like it will be a good one!

This is THUMBS UP, a Beales shrub from Ashdown, but it grows like a climber - well, almost like a rambler. It has interesting pink and yellow striped flowers, which you can't see too well in this picture.

Wow! LADY BIRD is a big and bright bloom!

NIGHT OWL is starting to be a very dramatic climber!

This is one of the Renaissance roses - BONITA RENAISSANCE. It didn't do much at first, but now I am starting to see what it can do! It is looking more like a climber than a shrub, but not sure yet how big it will get.

I've shown this Heirloom shrub-climber before, but took this nice picture yesterday. It is one of my two top climbers - LADY OF THE MIST.

Oops - I forgot a few I had uploaded on Flickr today.

Here's WELCOME HOME - third year, but getting to be my best yellow.

Here's a mini-flora, ABBY'S ANGEL, that will knock your socks off!

Here's SHEER MAGIC - third year. It's better every year!

And, finally, here's PAROLE. I've had it for four years. It is the biggest rose I have ever seen, and they have great form. There were many blooms this year. Oh, and it is fragrant, too!

"Happy Butt".......I was laughing so hard at the name of the first one that I had a hard time concentrating on all the beautiful pictures that followed!

Most of the roses I am not familiar with but they are all very lovely! I especially like the Heirloom climber, Lady of the Mist (and what a beautiful name!)

Dan, Thanks for all the great photos. It's always fun to see how you are building your garden. I really like some of the conifers posted in the gallery. The Abies lasiocarpa is excellent, although I was surprised at the slow growth rate that you are getting with it- I wonder if it will accelerate with a little more age. Also love the 'Gebelle's golden spring'. Totally agree with your opinion on Ginkgos- I find them somehow fascinating, can not wait for mine to get some more age to them. Please excuse me for not popping up some pics right now- I would rather wait until the candles have stopped extending and new growth has fully pushed. shannon

Thanks Gesila, I never gave it a thought till I saw all the Alex Summers on this thread and figured that mine is not like that lol. I have Ivory Coast and Liberty but they are small yet, I will have to wait till they grow up a bit to compare them. canadian, and to think, I had RdL on my shovel prune list. I haven't had luck with her, but I did cut her back a lot this spring and took out all the older canes. Maybe they were damaged. Double Delight is one of those roses that starts out light and will turn red and darken with sun exposure. Sometimes I let the blooms get just a tinge and bring them in and they stay creamy. But this is the whitest DD bloom I've ever seen. I almost thought it was the rose next to DD creeping over, but it wasn't.

Flyleft, LOL, LOL...giancomo has great taste. I couldn't afford it either, (I can't afford what I did purchase). There's nothing wrong with IKEA cabinets. I was planning on them in my kitchen but the color/finish was being discontinued. The glass top in that picture is the most expensive part. I was going to do my bathroom with that color glass and a matching shower door. I decided to go in a different direction though. Annkatheryn, gorgeous bathroom. Donna

Great pictures! I spent some time looking up all the roses I have never seen. I loved Thumbs Up especially, I think "gently striped" roses are so hard to find. All your roses are wonderful.

Snowheather, I absolutely love your pictures!! You've got a whole bunch of beautiful roses.
I have to second Masha - love 'Thumbs Up' the most.
I also received mine from Ashdown about three years ago and was silly enough to plant that small baby straight in the ground. Unfortunately, I lost is very soon.
I wish I could replace it but Ashdown does not have it anymore. Sigh...

Hello Snowheather - all of your roses are so beautiful. I was wondering if your Happy Butt rose started off red/reddish orange before it bloomed as above? If possible, would you mind a photo shot of the plant/foliage? Thanks a bunch.

Wow! Thanks, everybody! Now, post yours! Of course, I've seen some of your great pictures before. And, Jeff and Masha, your new ones are superb!

Happy Butt is just a year old, Kasie, but it is growing well. I just went out to see if any of the buds were big enough in this second bloom period to see if there was any orange color, but they aren't. I took a picture of the plant/foliage, but it is too foggy to show much right now. Suffice it to say the plant and foliage are normal. Of course, I spray fungicide, so can't say much about disease. It is a lovely rose, and, I must say it tickles me to see people look startled when they see it's nameplate!

Lana, I'm looking forward to seeing your gorgeous blooms, and always wish I could grow florist roses here. Is it a little early there yet? I got Thumbs Up from Ashdown Roses in March of '07. I also got the shrub/climbers Bright Ideas and Juliette Greco and Antike 89 around the same time from them. I planted them all in the ground, as I remember, Marina, so I guess I just lucked out that they all made it! But, they are all just coming into their full potential now. I've noticed with Ashdown there is a "now you see it, now you don't" situation as they sell out. You might ask when they are going to get it back.

Masha, another rose I have with that same yellow/pink gently striped coloring is Flirtatious, a floribunda.

Only one so far has bloomed in my garden. It is also new from last year and that's Canary Bird. Being a once bloomer I didn't expect it to bloom last year and it didn't. It is putting on a wee show for us right now. So far I just love the color. Can't wait for it to grow up this summer and really strut its stuff next year.

Bumping this one up to see more of your new or new for you ones. That Canary Bird is striking, Kate and loved your pictures Pelicanhead, especially the Dahlia rose.

Here's Pretty Lady. This one isn't new for me, but is a newer picture. This is a disease-free rose for me!

Got Julio Iglesias last year, but it didn't show it's stuff until this Spring.

This was the first bloom on a new own root of Grey Dawn. It's been blooming it's head off since!

snowheather- Your pictures are outstanding. That picture of Night Owl could win a photography contest. Such beautiful roses. Julio Iglesias is on my to get list, very interesting rose.

Calliope is the Harkness one. Beth, thanks for posting all those beauties! I have CHANDOS BEAUTY, too, and it has bloomed but I didn't get a picture. I think it is going to be outstanding, don't you? Now I have to get MAMMA MIA, FAIREST CAPE, and some of your other ones -(as if I had the room)! I have thought about LEGEND, but since I have to shovel prune in order to plant another rose, I am waiting to see how it does for others this year.

That GREETINGS is sure cute! I think Newyorkita has it, too.

I have more new ones, but since the summer heat is arriving, I probably won't get good pictures of them until fall.

beth -love your LEDGENDS. I just bought that one and its not even planted yet. Sure hope it turns out to live up to its hipe.

Hey, I saw the pic of Geeetings and thought it was wonderful to find another person growing it. The darn thing is a blooming fool!!!! I personally love it :-))
