Greenman's Peppers 2012 (pics)
Comments (130)Thanks, Caelian and Mark! I'm getting excited about 2013 as well. As much as I like having a few pods lingering this late, I would rather have a harvest when everyone else's pods are coming in during the Summer season :-) For the Ghost Jam, yes I'm going to use Pineapple and some golden sweet Meyer Lemons for the fruit, and then these Yellows Bhuts for heat. Tons of sugar, too, of course. I almost forgot to mention....last week, some awful critter wreaked havoc in my cold-frame, tearing out my screen vent, punching a hole in the wall, snapping branches off my Hungarian Wax, Red Bhut Jolokia, Morouga, and completely knocking over my Manzano (which had been doing wonderfully in the cold compared to the other peppers). Anyhow, I'd been waiting and waiting on my two Manzano pods, only to find them both on the ground. So, they never had a chance to ripen... and this is as far as I got.......See MoreMy Sannam and Pusa jwala plants to share
Comments (8)UPDATE I have about fifteen robust plants now and growing at breakneck speed in cool weather. The major problem is cool weather. Only two plants have started fruiting and some four more are in flowering. Rest are jst growing. My plants are like a school of most beautiful mermaids who are flat chested...Aaaaaaaargh. Planning to post the pics of plants today after the clod cover disperses. With another month of summer left, I don't know how good or how bad is my harvest going to be. Comments (11)I assumed that it wasn't so much heat as stress that affected pepper pungency. I noticed with my Anaheim chilis that during the blazing heat of mid summer they produced smaller, very hot fruits, while during spring and fall they produced larger, milder fruits. I thought it was because they were under stress from being both hot and dry. If that's true, maybe a solution for this cooler weather would be to water them less? I haven't experienced it with peppers, but I have heard that holding off on water can make tomatoes and melons more flavorful. It might be worth a shot. Of course, if it's cold AND rainy then there's not much you can do about it....See MoreSeed offering 2008
Comments (79)This thread is a year and a half old and is about a seed offer that is no longer active. You may want to actually start a new thread on your question. It would be more appropriate and far less confusing. Just a suggestion. I would have just sent you an e-mail but you didn't seem to have one on your member page....See Morereyna1
