I don't think it's even necessary to air-layer. Do you notice any prop roots growing off the main trunk? If you do, the plant will eventually root as long as you get a piece of root with the cutting. I would wait until spring to do this. Reason being, it is much easier to maintain the humid conditions that a tropical cutting would require. Try to peel away at some of the old, dried leaf scare tissue on the main truck to look for those prop roots that Pandanus are famous for. Sorry I can't help more with the species. Keep in mind even variegated plants will revert to more green if not kept in sufficient sun. Mine goes out in the growing season and gets decent sun. If you decide to move yours out for the season, make sure you err on the side of heavy shade (they will burn until they acclimate to the outdoor sun). Good luck!

Hi, Alana. Hmmm. Cluster-flowered rambler perhaps? I haven't grown many ramblers. From what I can discern, your rose's foliage looks more Rosa wichuraiana hybrid than Rosa multiflora hybrid. I believe R. wichuraiana tends to produce leaves that are a bit more ovate and R. multiflora a bit more elongated and pointed. I also believe that R. wich hybrids tend to have glossier foliage. (Hopefully those on the forum who are rose ID authorities will jump in and correct any misinformation I am supplying.) I'm trying to get a good close look at the veining/serration. Does the foliage resemble the plant that was sent to you as Ghislaine? IF she is correctly identified, she's a R. multiflora hybrid. I believe RVR carries a number of light pink R. wichuraiana ramblers such as Dorothy Perkins and Minnehaha. If I were you, I think I'd perform an advanced search on RVR site's for light pink-medium pink (color is so variable) R. wichuraiana ramblers. Does this response help at all?
