I have two own root, and the bush is much smaller than the ones on Fortuniana. The smaller ones bloom just as much as the grafted, huge blooms that smell wonderful, and it's still a shapely rounded bush. The only time I have trouble with her is when we have several days of totally overcast, wet, cool weather, the blooms get botrytis and don't open. But when the sun comes back out, she shrugs it off and immediately goes into another flush. The only other issue with this rose, and it wasn't specific to Belinda, most of my roses got it and many died, was a mysterious fungal cane die-back.

tenorpeggy If you would like to see an outstanding Belinda's Dream in your own town just visit Scrivner's Nursery. The rose bush is just to the left of the entrance gate (on the outside). I was there just 2 weeks ago and I didn't recognize it until an employee identified it for me. My comment was "I'm gonna have to move mine if it gets that big", lol. It was about 6-7 feet tall X 4 feet wide and FILLED with blooms and fragrance. Mine is just a baby but blooms fantastically.Not something you want in a pot unless you are a bonsai genius. BTW Scrivners didn't have any OGR's just hybrids when I visited. I succumbed to a pretty face "Outrageous" and regret it. Beautiful blooms but losing leaves to blackspot at an incredible rate. I have about 15 OGR's and never a blackspot seen yet. Impossible to purchase locally though. Denise

How about an update on this topic since Belinda's Dream is continuing to impress me this summer. It's the hottest part of summer now and a good time to analyze how roses are performing at this worst time of year in the South. Here's a picture of a Belinda's Dream bloom. The size is not diminished at all by the heat. Here's another picture showing a bud and a bloom. You can also see how beautiful the foliage still is. Another picture showing the blooms and foliage. Last of all, a shot showing the whole bush. Not the best quality photo, but it shows just how good the plant is looking. Keep in mind that I haven't sprayed this plant at all this year with either insecticide or fungicide. I do provide supplemental irrigation when needed, and I mulch. Belinda's Dream did not do well for me in my zone 5/6, W. PA garden. I went full steam ahead responding to all its good press, and planted 4, one gallon size, four years ago. Four years later, a more than fair trial period, and nothing. BD died to the ground every winter, got to 14" by seasons end with very weak, puny growth. However, it made every effort to bloom but balled badly and its thin stems could not support the flowers. It also black spotted which surprised me in light of its Earthkind designation. I believe BD is a warm climate rose. It apparently does very well from zone 7 and higher.
