That is a beautiful plant. :-) I have one that I purchased at a middle school money making project around 25 years ago. It too is a beautiful plant. Mine stays indoors all year round, in a w, s/w sunny window. In the very hottest, sunniest part of Summer, in the strong mid-day sun, I will give it filtered sun. It has never died back once in all these years. I have done repots simply because the bulbs multiply so much they end up sitting several deep with the top ones sticking up out of the potting medium, some of them so far up that they are practically lying o top of the medium. So I take it out of the pot, separate the little bulbs and only plant part of them back into the same pot with new soil. It does great, and the bulbs quickly multiply and fill the pot again, many times over the years. I love this plant and not only is it very pretty and always blooming, but it is so easy to care for. I hope you get as much enjoyment from your beautiful 'shamrock' as I have gotten from mine. Linda

I copied my response from the Name That Plant Forum. Possibly Calostoma - Buffalo's eye fungus. I have never seen this before. What a bizarre and interesting fungus.

Sorry. You're all right...it's a Hosta! I hope I didn't upset too many people. I thought it was the same thing that my husband found on the lawn and complained about. Below is a picture of the "actual" invader. Again, mea culpa!! And thanks for the responses .

This is very strange. First of all, it's got three seed leaves instead of two. Then it looks like it's flowering or something. But when I was editing this photo, I realized it might be another seedling lifted into the air (which is what it is--it's hard to tell in the photo) because of the seed shell on it. Has anyone seen anything like this?
