Your package bees will probably fill about 1/3 of one box, let them work this box first and when you see at least 3/4 full and comb drawn on every frame....except maybe one then put the second box on.

And keep in mind that those measurements are approximates (the plants can't measure worth a darn!) so some of them might get a little wider while others may be shy a foot or so. Use the distance requirements as a rough guess but please keep in mind that more than likely your bushes will get big - many people forget that things will someday be large and plant way too close together. On the other hand, depending on what you want it to look like, plenty of gardeners plant a few extra or non-favorite bushes in between to fill things out while they wait for the special ones to grow. Then, after a year or so they dig out the disposable bushes and either move them somewhere else or get rid of them. Just depends on how fast things grow in your garden under your care. And I kinda like the way things like hydrangea look when they are planted kinda close to the wall of a porch so the bush leans out and away from it. It doesn't make for perfect globe shape but I think it adds something to the scheme of things. At least in my far from perfect garden it does.

Daylilies will hold a gentel slope quite well as they have those nice root systems. Although I don't think I would pick a daylily only as a folliage plant, the nice green fans look quite nice all year long and during bloom season your slope will explode in color and look absolutely smashing. You want lots of healthy folliage in OH, You might want to stick with dormant daylilies although there are many evergreens that do grow like gangbusters. Another thing, forget the rebloom. I see you have many listed that rebloom down south but they will not up in your zone. There are other plants that would work well in your slope and many could be mixed with the daylilies. Siberian Iris is the first thing I thought of but I don't know if you can get them at local nurseries or just have to go mail order. They have very nice green leaves (maybe like a large version of liriope) and beautiful blooms. They also spread which would be good to fill in your space. Congratulations on your first seedling! I like the dark purple color and what's happening with the petals and sepals. I would say you have two petals pinching and one twisting. It would be an unusual form, or UF. The way I count branching is that this is only the terminal Y branch, or one branch. Subsequent branches would come from the bracts lower on the scape. Not all dayliliies have fragrance. Foliage varies in both diploids and tetraploids. Debra
