Do mini roses need much water?
Comments (5)It will die in a pot with no holes. Roses are not easy indoor plants. I have 18 of them in my sunroom. They can live indoors, but you will most likely battle pest problems constantly. Especially if the indoor humidity, temperature, and light conditions are not perfect. I have my environment nearly perfect for roses, and still have problems. They require constant work. They are just not meant to be casual houseplants. However, I wish you luck if you do try it. :-) Cheers, Michelle...See MoreWhy won't they last for me indoors?
Comments (3)I do spray for spider mites on my indoor minis but Avid can be quite expensive. A good control is not misting, which doesn't do a thing, but wrapping a paper towel around the base of the plant to keep the dirt in, inverting the plant in the kitchen sink and spraying the underside of the leaves with a good cold spray from that hose spray I've never found any other use for. If you do that twice a week, spider mite will be a thing of the past. I use Avid because I have big roses inside and turning them upside down is nothing I could manage. It's very common for the leaves to turn yellow and drop when you first get a potted mini. They've been forced in a greenhouse and the change to dry air and lower light levels is enough to shock them. They should leaf out again and do fine thereafter. They sure aren't the easiest house plants in the world but I've got ten of them inside, several blooming right now and they're doing fine....See Moreindoor cultivation of miniature rose...
Comments (2)Hello cecily9, I wonder if the particular cultivar that you have will make a difference in growing indoors. There are hundreds of kinds of miniature roses and I suspect some take to the indoors better than others. I have a miniature rose in a south window sill right along side a seafoam rose and the seafoam has bloomed repeatedly while the miniature rose is just hanging on. By now you have probably read most of the info available so you know what your up against and how to deal with a lot of issues that will come up. Hang in there and hopefully you will come up with a good method to keep roses indoors....See Moreneed info on parade minis
Comments (5)I had two gorgeous ones and i planted both and each has died. I'm ripping my 2nd out this week. Darn they were such pretty little plants. I don't think I'll buy parade roses again, just don't seem hardy enough and I live in zone 9! good luck, gbebeh...See Morepetaloid
