The fourth unidentified one -- the small red with about 10 petals appears to be Dr. Huey, which is a rootstock sucker, and should be gotten rid of. Yank it out (don't cut it off, that only encourages it). If it is attached to or near a different rose that is still growing, and if you continue to let it grow, it will eventually kill the other rose by stealing all the energy away from the plant grafted to those roots. If there's nothing living in that general vicinity, I would still get rid of it -- it's a disease prone once-a-year bloomer that is not worth the effort to care for it. As for the others, the red and the pink could be anything -- there are too many red and pink roses out there to even make an educated guess. Dig around some more and see if you can find more tags -- happens all the time that they are somewhere in the dirt nearby. For wild a__ guesses at the others, how about Rio Samba for the yellow-orange and Bride's Dream for the very light pink? Kathy p.s. Oh all right -- I'll take a stab at the other two also -- how's about Mr. Lincoln for the red (intoxicating scent -- is it there?), and Miss All American Beauty for the first of the two pinks. But that last pink bud's gonna hafta open before we can even guess at that one.

Jane - thanks for the tip about Therese Bugnet. Mine bloomed for the first time this year, and they look a good bit different from mystery #3. I checked and to my surprise, the canes are pretty smooth throughout the length, which I'd never noticed before. Here's a sample Therese bloom - she is nicely fragrant but she seems too double to be #3 and too dark pink to be #1, not to mention that little stripe on the petals: I do have an additional photo of pink rose #2, which is my biggest puzzle. It is looking very double with Austin-like clustering and cupping of petals. Sorry the picture is a bit blurred, but you can see how double it is, and it's more of a carnation pink than the hot pink of the others. It's looking like a dead ringer for Blessed Child if it had more fragrance, though Emmanuela de Mouchy is a possible one though it looks a little darker pink especially on the reverse, and it's supposed to be fragrant too. If it is an Austin, Geoff Hamilton is a definite possibility, but it's supposed to be thornless and this is the one with thorns. If it had more fragrance, I could go with Mme. Ernest Calvat, but this mystery one is pretty dead to my nose. Radio Times would also be an option, if it had more fragrance. So my best guesses would all be fragrant or thornless from the Rogue Valley roses so far, and that doesn't yet fit this rose. Of course, I might not be able to smell the fragrance, but I'm usually pretty good with Austins and Hybrid Perpetuals and Bourbons. I think my working guess is Blessed Child with fragrance I can't detect, but I'd welcome other ideas! Cynthia

@User One more question, if you don't mind? Since I originally found this rose as a tiny twig (like 3" tall the first year), can I assume the entire thing is the same rose? The entirety of the root system fit in the palm of my hand at the time.. There are some small buds forming last year's canes, so I am wondering if they will be indicative of the entire bush's potential future blooms? Or are you saying that only the weirdly tall new growth is probably Dr. Huey?

BenT: 😂... you’re right it might just be destiny... that’s so funny you mention Grand Dame... I was also thinking the same thing. But doesn’t she bloom in large sprays of blooms? That’s the one reason figured it wasn’t Grand Dame. It’s definitely not pretty lady… since I have pretty lady and the Bloom form is different. 🌸 It’s funny you mention Me and Grand Dame crossing paths... I was at Home Depot on the same day I saw that mystery rose... and came across this mislabeled rose. 🌸 It’s definitely not the roses on the tag. It had 4 or more broken canes and blooming buds... made me so sad. But even with all those broken canes, it still had a good number of buds left on the plant and one flower in bloom. 🌸 Fragrance was moderate and lovely. So I decided to take a chance on it and bring it home with me. Do you think this might also be Grand Dame?
