Things are starting to get going - my Iris this year is going crazy! don't know any of their names though, I got them on ebay a few year ago.

this one is out front - and it's a stunning sight - the neighbours keep coming over to check it out

Aprille, I can see why they keep stopping to look at your iris, those are gorgeous! Your roses are too:) I love Dainty Bess, I wish I could have one of those. I love the singles. Thanks for sharing these, not long enough:)

Thanks everyone. I find it's easier to appreciate the late daylilies when there is so little competition. I like them all. Marg and Jean,I think Alexis Sunny Pants just might be my favorite plant in the garden this year. It is such a fabulous performer. Eggplant Electricity has been a favorite for a few years. Mantis--Spacecoast Dragon Prince was new last August, but so far has been very impressive. I've always liked Elegant Finale--a very nice late bloomer. Purple Archittecture is fairly new and is putting on a show. Great branching on this one. Val

Good luck with the cuthbertsonii. It is looking good. I like those Hybrids with the B. nodosa influence because they do well around these parts, but unfortunately i've never seen Bc. Binosa on a list.

Thanks all! We almost cut Peace down b/c it's gotten so big and was here when we bought the house. I really pruned it hard this year and it really has bloomed better this year so now I want to keep it. We did spray once this year b/c it appears we had an invation of thurps sp.? Rainbow's End has been one of my favorites for a long time and I finally purchased one, it's really a great little rose!

Leslie, Thank you - I planted 3 Dainty Bess together last year - can't wait till there are more blooms open to see how they will look. I really like my singles too.

I took a 'group' shot of the Iris - they are by the front drive way so people passing get quite a good look. I've also got a pale yellowish lot under my red maple that's starting to bloom right now too ...

Your Iris and roses are beautiful. I love the shot of the lady beetle too. Isn't it nice to have garden helpers!

Amy - thank you - and no they don't take any work at all. I planted just one rhizome 3 years ago and it's multiplied almost 10 fold. they need well drained soil and that's it as far as what I did - just stuck them in the ground and ignored them. give them a lot of space though or you'll have to dig them up every 2-3 years and seperate. the bloom time is about 4 weeks (not too sure) some do repet bloom.

Krista - thank you. I think it's our california weather - though today is crappy - cold and gloomy.

Aprille, don't apologize for it being long. I love it. The irises look so pretty. I can't grow them as they multiply too fast. Besides, I have too many daylilies. I love to look at iris pictures. Roses are pretty too. My Abra hated its new spot last year, so its back to a pot for it this spring. It is much happier. Keep posting!

Oh ok you just did me in you! Now I have to have a "group" of Iris' in my yard...you say you dont know the name of the ones you have?
Anyone got any ideas what shes got, I love that color.

Angela - if you'd like I can dig up some tubers for you later in the year and send it out - I think the right time to do this is sometime in the summer (lateish) let me know.

Beautiful pictures. The clump of gorgeous lavender plicata bearded iris may be 'Jesse's Song'. Great photo.

The irises really are beautiful. What kind of sage/lavendar is behind the irises? It provides a wonderful backdrop.

We've had freezing rain/snow mix and temps down to 25F for three days, but it looks like the freeze might not have destroyed the iris blooms or killed the leaves and buds on my roses.

I'm crazy about that Dainty Bess, beautiful picture. Where did you get your Sunday Lemonade? I've been looking for that one for a while now.

Thank you Kathy. I had to take out a lot of the Iris in the back yard cos it grew too big - I tossed out a lot but planted some under the lemon tree where nothing usually survives, but the Iris seem to be thriving!!

BC - thank you. I'm really enjoying the Iris right now while I'm waiting for the roses to get going. If only I had more room I could grow more Iris and more roses ...

Gary I think it's English Lavender back there. the bees just love it and so do the girls. sorry to hear about the awful weather your having. hope it warms up soon.

seil thank you. I got Sunday Lemonade from Roses Unlimited. They have a nice selection and their plants are always nice and healthy.
