My weeds...with a few roses

I just started these roses last year. Some were bought from the nursey as potted bare roots and others were bands I bought. As you can tell, I rent the property and I haven't got around to clear the leaves, weeds, etc. I also completely pruned Belinda's Dream wrong, but I'll get to her after the 1st flush. Just thought I'd share. I left out Winchester Cathedral and Christopher Marlowe as there wasn't much to see yet.

Front of the house on the North side. Pat Austin does surprisingly well here and is quite well mannered in form. WS2000 does OK...could do better but he gets the least sun as well. I'll be interested to do in their 2nd year.

I pruned Sharifa rather hard since she was a band last year and was shooting out lateral canes. I pruned a lot of Golden Celebration back in hopes it would throw out more of the long canes that I kept on it. New Dawn grew a lot, but I hope it can at least get to the top of the arbor I made in a day haha.

Zephy wasn't a proliferic bloomer last year, but looks to be going strong so far. Evelyn has a couple canes that are near 4ft long...this was after I purchased her as a band from High Country Roses in late July. Pretty Jessica and Abe Darby are both doing great.

Lots of out of control ground cover around Graham but I might just keep it since it keeps the ground moist in the summer. Graham was slow to go at 1st, then in late July took off like a rocket. I'm hoping it to train it along the fences 2x4s.

Now for these two bad kids. Both are beautiful and disease free. Unfortunately, they haven't done much in terms of growth or blooming...especially White Eden. The blooms on Red Eden are to die for. There is a slight slope to the sidewalk and they are planted right near it. In any case, I'm really hoping they actually take off this year.

I'll get more pics after they are in bloom. I should probably have them in bloom by the end of April year. Definately going to do so with Red Eden. As much as it hasn't become a climber for me the blooms are gorgeous and I'm going to go on an enable-quest. XD

With the climbers, make sure when the new shoots are long enough to try and wrap them around the arbors because if you just let them grow any old way which is usually straight up, then all your blooms will be at the top of the rose and the bottom half will not have any roses. If you wrap the canes around the arbor, then it will encourage that cane to grow more canes. What I do when mine get long enough (Eden climbing roses) is I bend them down horizontally and use those green stretchy ties to secure them to my arbor. Then in a week or so, you will see new shoots growing up from the horizontal cane. The effect is so much prettier because more of your arbor is covered in roses!

Thank you, Chuy, Roma, Pagan and Sharon. Pagan, I meant few plants have bloom at this time of the year. I took few more pictures this morning. I grafted this double pink last year. The big pot mother's plant died this year. I was sad, because it was about 10 years old and always gave me plenty of blooms.

Great pictures of everything. I have a peony that was given to me 3 yr ago. It was given to me by one of the old Laotian lady's on the next block over. "You take, you grow, you like". I'm going to find out what it looks like this year. It's got about 1/2 dozen buds on it.

Thank you for the comments hope they will survive the winter still baby's. You are right rose_crazy_da once you plant a rose it becomes a addiction. My wife keep telling me i'm going crazy making smoothies out of bananas, orange peals,coffee and egg shells to put around them every couple of days .

Me too, Nik; unfortunately I have jungle only right around the house; the big garden is very much the garrigue look, since that's all that will grow. I do what I can. Garrigue can be beautiful too, after all. Ingrid, I have another phlomis that has whiter leaves than this one: it may be your variety. I've never seen a photo of CdC that captured her color, and have been taking pictures myself without succeeding. She is an astonishingly beautiful rose, and even if the flowers usually burn after a few hours is well worth having in the garden. The only Tea I know that rivals her for vividness is her counterpart across the way, 'Clementina Carbonieri', who has more gold in her coloring. Jackie, I know we worship the same garden gods; and Sheila is apparently heading for the same altar. I value structure in a garden, but tidiness ranks low among my priorities. Carol, I've posted about "Miss Mystery" before, seeking an ID. She's a Tea I received as a cutting from a gardener in Genoa who didn't know her name, and which I've never identified, either, though I'm not knowledgeable about Teas. Her most notable characteristics are her large size and her tendency for her blooms to ball. She's about eight years old, and may only now be maturing--I do hope her blooms will open better as she gets older--and looks like she wants to climb, or at least, looks like I'll have to train her to climb if she's to have the room she requires.

Thanks Olivia. Red Eden does just that with a group of 5 or so blooms right at the top of the canes. However, Red Eden is listed as a climber, but the canes are super thick and rigid. They are essentially unbendable. So far, Red Eden behaves more like a medium upright hybrid tea than a bendable climber White Eden didn't bloom much as at all last year, but I'm interested to see how it fairs this year. I have tied up all my roses vertically, because I'm trying to just encourage vertical growth. I want them to go the extent of the arbors, then after they are long enough, I'll take them down and bend them so it encourages more lateral canes and blooms. Right now my main interest in just in getting them to get as tall as possible. Red Eden couldn't bend even if I wanted it to as the moment.

Renee, yes the street consists of the original Columbus city brick roadways. My small hometown also had them so I am used to them. They are perfectly fine and last forever, however they do tend to sink in spots making the ride rather bumpy and all over the place. I live near Victorian Village in Columbus. Most of German Village in Columbus consists of small brick streets.
