There are a lot of different species told apart by fine botanical characteristics - except for a comparatively small number that don't look like any others.

Thanks Ron! I believe you are right. Growing on the same support is a plant with blooms that look like Akatsuki no Murasaki and they were all planted from the same packet of seeds. The blue is a bit darker and more saturated than in this picture. They came from a trade packet labeled Hatsu Arashi, which none of the blooms resemble. I think it is a matter of a mislabeled packet compounded by the variation you mention. I am confident you have solved my mystery! Alana

As for #1, there are only 4 Graptophytums listed on ICN, should be easy to check. Or else, I would go with something like a Graptopetalum hybrid because of the way the new young leaves already flattened outward, try matching with either G. 'Purple Haze', or G. 'Victor Kane', or G. 'Marquise de Sévigné', all these have pinkish/red hue on the leaves.

Maryl, They look very much like the common daylily I grew up with in PA and there are huge numbers here in KY as well. It looks like the next to last one in the link Signet sent. According to Petit & Peat's book The new Encyclopedia of Daylilies, There are a number of variants of H. Fulva. It is most likely one of these variants.
