Lol. Wear gloves when working with peppers! And it almost goes without saying, but not quite. Take them off when you go to the bathroom! I had a case of the nuclear sausage a couple weeks ago when seeding some thai hots. It was very, very uncomfortable. Had me yelling even. . . .

I had that happen once too after cutting up some hab's ...

I ruined a pair of contact lens after cutting up some Habs and that was after washing my hands 3 or 4 times!!

Wash your hands often like every 6-8 peppers or wear gloves and you shouldn't have those problems. I rubbed my eyes last year after seeding a bunch of tabasco peppers and cried for hours. Under my fingernails burned for a couple days. Before handling the sausage place finger tip on tongue for a few seconds to make sure the capsaicin is gone or at least mild. If it burns your tongue you might want to pee like a girl or have the mrs hold it for you.

i've gotta say that it feels good to know that i'm not the only one causing himself physical burns with chiles on a regular basis

I just discovered last night that even gloves don't totally isolate your hands from the heat if you plan on putting in contacts later....

I think the worst time was after de-seeding and tearing apart a bunch of dried chiles with my bare hands.. MY god.. besides the NS, anywhere i touched, even my girlfriend, got red and developed that painful burn for a couple of hours. i found that standing IN the freezer was the most effective temporary relief

I've gotten used to wearing dishwashing gloves, but earlier today I de-seeded some hot peppers and while I was yanking off my gloves, a drop of pepper juice got flung in my eye. It quickly got unreasonably painful too, but when I rinsed my eye under the faucet the pain quickly went away.
