Okey, let me take you on a tour...so what conifers do we have here. On the left back you see some Pseudotsuga mensiesii. But they are under the snow. Next, I am afraid also under the snow, you see a T heterophylla. In front on the right there are some Picea abies but unforunately they are covered by some snow. The lefthand side consists of P. omorika, P. sitchensis. P. x Lutzii, P. breweriana, P. glauca, A.alba, A grandis. Pinus unknown (got some seeds of it), L. decidua. P. orientalis and P. abies. They are there, but they are under some snow...Unfortunate for our viewers, but be assured: they love it!

Jackied, love the view you have! Do you have any summer pictures (we have a summer/winter theme that comes up in these threads)?? Must be beautiful with the leaves on the trees. Those yellow berries on the Holly are really pretty. Ellen I have crabapples like that in the back. Most of the fruits have been picked off the wild crabs but not those huge red ones. I wonder if the birds will eat them eventually? I'll have to take a walk this afternoon and try to get some wintry shots. Wasn't it weird to see the ground last week for all of 4 days (for those of us north of the Southern coastline, that is)? After 2 1/2 months of nearly continuous snow cover, and now it's back, seeing the earth come to life is gonna be like heaven...:)

Here's some of ours. We now have 112 roses (and we have small yards!), some are waiting to be planted. Hey, there are roses that are even shade tolerant, even ones that can climb up a tree! All of the zucchinis and all of the melons are dead. And my volunteer All Blue potato looks done for, too. I sprayed the pyrethrin, but either it was too late, or it didn't phase the bugs. Anyone see Starship Troopers? Or read the book? Was Heinlein a gardener? Maybe this is where he got the idea. The three remaining brassica in my raised bed are hanging in there. And I haven't seen any more leafminer damage. The potatoes are doing fairly well, except for one, a Carola. It sprouted, poked above the soil, then dried up and died, even though I took pains to keep the bed watered. I doubt if it'll come back. I bought a new hose, and it's a dang site better than carting a watering can all over the yard. Especially since, on my last attempt to drag home soil from Home Depot, I threw out my right elbow, and now it's painful to lift things. I harvested all of the fall-planted garlic. I guess they're curing in my dining room, which smells of eau de allium. My vacation's basically over, so I'll have to wait until this next weekend to do anything with them. I put the last of the tomatoes, a San Marzano, in a container outside. I buried it deep, about 70% of it underground. I also put some purple basil with it. I took the peat pots off of both of them, so we'll see if that makes a difference. None of my sunflowers are coming up. I planted four more seeds outside today. I told myself that when I got done with the yard and the garden, I'd start a thorough cleaning of the house. When that started looking ship shape, I'd go out shopping and maybe to a movie. I never quite got done with the yard. And I've got, um, 15 minutes left of my vacation? Sigh. Oh, well.
