chile sauce

I made 5 pints of chile sauce tonight using a datil pepper recipe I got from the net. After 3 hours of simmering there was NO HEAT. I ordered HOT datils...tasted them and there was heat...not the killer heat I expected. After I waterbathed the first 3 pints I cut up 5 hot paper lanterns into the sauce and canned the other 2 pints. I hope that with time the lantern's heat will permeate the sauce. Big disappointment.

For those of you who grow datil's, do you have any recipes to share?
