I see a few near the coast on google. I was told they were planted large fronting a nice and big Hotel. They have the "coconut juuuuust making it look" like what you see in the California desert. Interesting that those Coconuts had tall Howea palms next to them. But,yes,I would trade for the Brisbane climate. Ironic that here in the bay area we also have a city named Brisbane. Its a very cool ,mild climate..not Brisbane like in summer!

And yet another wrong cutting. I bought 5 India cuttings from Derrick. Three just bloom. This one of them (all identical). This is a recent picture of my India I have for many years, This is a comparison of the stems: Derrick on left, mine on right, You see India is a robust grower with fat branches. Derrick's India has thin branches. There is no way what Derrick send me is India. It looks like Kimo. Kimo has thin branches and the petals are rounded, like Derrick's India. Here is a picture of Kimo I have. The flower also smells like Kimo. It does not have the vining that India has either. There is no doubt in my mind that what he send me as India is really Kimo. I was suspicious about it from day one because all the cuttings had thin branches. No telling what you going to get when you order from Derrick. Lol, I have heard that, that's why I'm starting now instead of waiting till I am in a bigger house, and only keeping the best of each plant. I'm also going to put them under grow lights through winter. These are Kukiat seeds, so I'm hoping they are more robust and produce flowers before I die, haha. I'm actually trying to create a true blue with cross-pollination, the ones that bloom the soonest will be candidates (the rest I'll rehome). If I get a good blue, then I'll share cuttings to spread it around and make it immortal. =)

Khalid: Thank you for those nice pics. & I'm impressed at how large and healthy the leaves are. Your Chartreuse de Parme is beautiful, same with Belle E. Own-root roses are much smaller than grafted, and my cold-zone makes roses 1/2 the size of warm-zone. So I have to go with REALL BIG roses if I want own-root in a cold-zone. Some of the wimpy own-roots like Love Song, Bishop Castle, Jude the Obscure are sold for $40 each at Heirloom roses since it takes longer for them to root. The problem with our winter & growing indoor: STERILE potting soil is used, that doesn't have mycorrhyzal fungi for fast root-growth. Rooting OUTDOOR with fast-drainage & loamy soil plus mycorrhyzal fungi resulted in THICKER roots for me. But I have to mix that in a month is advance. If you click on the below link, you'll see how Jobes' fertilizer NPK 3-5-3 (with bacteria & fungi) makes a big difference in Julia Child's flowering. I like home-made compost better than store-bought-compost (mostly cow-manure with antibiotics, salt, and that nasty quick-lime added to deodorize).
