What's up with MPG forum?

Hi, all, I've been trying for 2 days to get into MPG forum. As soon as I sign in, it says IPS Driver Error. All other websites that I go to work fine, so I'm thinking it must be something wrong at the MPG site. Anyone else have this problem? Crafty

The site is down right now. Please wait a day or two. Sorry,

Likely, the style sheet (which may be kept in a different folder) which dictates how a page is to look (colors, fonts, where things are on the page) fails to load for some pages, causing these bizarre displays. For most of these problems, I suspect poor web authoring choices and inept Flash programming rather than server issues. Some of us may remember these forums BEFORE the site (and we along with it) got sold to whatever commercial entity is now cramming the site with advertisements and pop-ups, causing all sorts of delays, slow-to-load loading ads, and annoying do-dads (notice: I will NOT fill out your survey, quit bugging me). The other day, some badly-designed Flash ad actually caused my browser (Firefox) to freeze and then crash. I gave up after having to reload a few times. Sometimes corporate greed can be so counter-productive. Folks, just place your ads along the edges and let us choose which to click on, instead of overloading the system with fancy gadgets that just annoy everyone. These are adults here, not teenagers that need to be distracted with shiny things. Oops, end of rant, truly C.

Bill, I've been seeing 'Ads by Google' recently embedded here in the New England Gardening thread; in fact, there's one right above your post on Sun, March, 18. Annoying for sure but not that intrusive yet. I treat them in the same way way I treat the marketing phone calls I get at dinner and just ignore them. I sometimes wonder about the mindset of the people who create these ads. I think it's a 'spitting into the wind' kind of mentality. They think they'll get one bite out of the thousands who see the ad. Like those funny ads that claim 'a woman in (your town goes here) has found the secret to eliminating wrinkles.' Molie

Hi Wendy! Congrats on your mystery blooms! Those are good-looking white flowers. I think your best bet would be to contact Doug at MPG with a picture of the flowers and hopefully he can help you ID it. Mine appears to have rounder petals with a slight fragrance so I don't think they're cuttings from the same tree. Your mystery cutting looks very healthy! Hi Stuart, Glad my photos inspire you to get a Hilo Beauty! I think it's a very nice red cultivar. You should have no problem rooting it in the sunny Florida weather! I potted mine in the gritty mix 2 weeks ago and it seems to be taking off nicely. Here is what it looks like today, I love the dark color in the new foliage! A side note- Jennifer is such a delightful person to deal with and always sensitive to the customer. I highly recommend Maui Plumeria Gardens as a source of plants (rooted) and cuttings in the spring. I have always had excellent results and rapid responses from her and her products have always been excellent. Bill

Regarding MPG Forum...I just got an email from Jennifer--she is still working on the problem.

She said she has received about 30 emails per day and has been busy answering them--while she could be working on the problem.

So we will just have to wait... :0
