Desperately need treatment advice, Plumeria broke in and odd spot
Comments (4)Hi MissMax, so sorry that happened, what a bummer :( But your plant should bounce back well. I agree with Mike, re-cut the broken branch on the main plant, let the latex stop flowing and then seal it with caulk or DAP to prevent moisture from getting in there. I would also fluff out the roots of the main plant and repot in a bigger pot. This will help stabilize the plant a bit more as well as give the roots some much needed room to grow. As for the broken fork, you need to recut the bottom part to get an even cut and I don't know how much you'll have left after you cut it, you may need to make 2 cuttings out of it. Cut them, let them callus for 2 weeks and then pot those up. One of the best ways to callus I've learned from this forum is to put hardwood mulch in a container & put the cuttings in there just above the mulch while keeping the container fairly warm. The humidity usually helps keep the cutting from shrinking back too much. Good luck & please keep us updated on your progress!...See MoreBroken Large Plumeria Branch
Comments (14)Need help regarding my Plumeria. I bought a 2 branch rooted cutting last spring and it did wonderful aside from a little stress (was dropping older leaves) it showed from the above average temperatures and frequent heavy rains. Anyway, spring seemed to take forever to get her this year so I ended up moving it from the dark corner in the basement and put it under a strong growlight to bring it out of dormancy. It got a late start but within a month I saw leaves begin to emerge from both branches. Once it was warm enough to move outside I accidentally damaged one of the growing tips during the move. It soon showed signs of rot so I cut the tip off about 3 inches below rhe rot. The other branch is doing just fine and Ive been waiting all summer to see what would happen with the branch I cut. Today I noticed a bud starting to emerge from rhe cut stem about 4 inches below the cut. My question is, do I do anything with the extra 4 inches. I'm happy about the new grown but the one branch will always be shorter and I'm not excited about that extra inches of stub above the emerging branch. Can I at some point trim that back further or is it best to just live with the stub?...See MoreNeed advice for my new rooted Plumeria.

Comments (10)last pic above.. that branch was damaged in transport.. snip it back to a green part ... see link for watering.... drip irrigation .. is a good tool .. IF USED PROPERLY ... you need to keep the root mass moist.. but let it nearly dry in between waterings ... and to find out how it is dripping in your soil.. you have to dig some holes with a hand trowel .. when i went to an engineered product ... i had to dig about 100 holes.. before i figured out how many hours it took to get water to 6 inches deep .. in my sand ... i would run it for 3 hours ... then dig a hole BETWEEN TWO emitters ... and keep extending the hours until the weeping covered the emitter distance.. and then i dug a hole to find out how deep it got ... AND THEN I HAD INFO TO START TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO TIME IT ALL OUT ... and once properly mulched ... and with that info in hand.. i might only have had to water that many hours.. once a month ... in my sand ... except in the worst droughts.. soil rarely dries 6 inches down... where the roots are .... how it all works in your soil.. is up to you and your trowel ... and for sure.. its not some 30 mins every other day thing .. as it will never get down into the root mass planted .. and that is the key .. keeping those roots moist.. but not sodden ... and its also not a timer thing ... ken https://sites.google.com/site/tnarboretum/Home/planting-a-tree-or-shrub...See MoreLoveplants2 8b Virginia Beach, Virginia
