I should have used gloves!

Well I cut up that party pack of supper hots I ordered for my party a week ago Saturday and dried them out in the oven along with a number of my own peppers. I did not wear gloves. all 5 of my fingers stung for about 48 hours. Today is the first day I haven't at least noticed it. Now I know to wear gloves.

YOW! I won't even cut up jalapenos anymore without gloves. I cut up several quarts last year and the webbing between my fingers burned awful for several hours. I ended up putting my hands in an ice bath, that actually did help.

This was a $10 cheapie I picked up on a whim this spring so no big loss. I had planned on putting up my deer deterrents Friday on my day off but the buck apparently had to get his rub in first! The 4 loblolly pines naturally occuring on my property all show a history of rub damage but have overcome the problem. Not so for this little one since it is girdled all the way around for a good 1' in height. I expected them to target this tree, just not quite so soon. Good luck to the rest of you! I used to like watching the deer until they top pruned over a dozen of my babies the first year I started planting as well as rubbing every tree 1" caliper on the whole darn property!!! I only see them once or twice a year but they leave sign year round. Sneaky bastards... Oh and of course they leave all the 1" caliper oak/hickory/cherry/ash saplings in the woods untouched......!!!!!!!.....

It is interesting that the active agent capsaicin is used to manage pain: "---The treatment typically involves the application of a topical anesthetic until the area is numb. I'd go a darker than the cabinets, picking up the dark flecks in the granite. It would be hard to get a bleached or "cerised" finish that blended well with the granite. If you get a low sheen finish with some shading and distressing on the planks, the fingerprints will be less noticeable. We have a dark table from World Imports that shows almost nothing between cleanings.

A strong blast of water can be effective for minor infestations. You may have to do it more then once if eggs are hatching, or as new adults fly in. When you blast it with water don't do it so hard that you damage the foliage, but it will require a more then moderate blast to dislodge them. Also, be aware of ants. They farm aphids for their honeydew and have been known to move the "herd" around from plant to plant........Maryl

LOL, I wear glasses but I did rub my eyes a couple of times which was not good

Also, don't pee until the hot wears off.

Or wear gloves for that.

A brief soak in diluted Clorox will neutralize the problem. Use the same concentration that you would use for sanitizing glassware.

If you are a guy, be careful when you pee or you could develop the dreaded "Chili Willie" syndrome. When this happens to me, I find some solace in singing the "Ring of Fire" song over and over while substituting other words for "ring."
