Guyana wiri wiri
Comments (8)Hi goofy, I don't have much to contribute, but since no one else has responded, here's what little I know about them. I got seeds about 4 years ago from a Guyanese fellow who lives in Florida. The seeds didn't germinate well, and I managed to grow two plants. The plants didn't grow well either, and by fall they were less than 1 ft tall. I overwintered them hoping they'd take off the next year. They grew a little better the second year but never produced pods. I gave up on them at that point and didn't try to keep them through a second winter. I posted a couple of times about them. AjiJoe, who contributes on The Hot Pepper forum, sent me more seed, but I never tried again. I've seen a few comments over the years saying that the pods have a great flavor and are used extensively in Guyanese cooking. Shame that I couldn't make them work for me. Maybe I had a batch of poor seed. It's one of the few peppers that has been a failure for me. Hope this is of help. Tom...See MoreAnyone growing wiri wiri peppers?
Comments (21)@hu-233033062 .If you indoor plant is flowering (white flowers) the reason it’s not bearing any peppers is because it needs to cross pollinate. Meaning you need the outdoors, bugs, ants, wind, bees, butterflies .. etc. If you are keeping it indoors, try taking a q-tip swab and gently touching each flower stalk (you become the pollinator) or sometimes you can shake the plant and pray that the pollen flying lands in the right spot 😊...See Morehave heirloon seeds for trade of hot pepper seeds
Comments (3)Welcome Joe. Since you are new perhaps you didn't realize that all wants and haves are posted in the Tomato Seed Exchange . If you go to the top of this first page, look just above and to the right of the first thread and you'll see a link labelled EXCHANGE, and that's where all posts about wants and haves and trades are to be posted. Hope that works for you. That tomato seed exchange was set up by the former owner of GW, Spike, b'c there were so many such posts here in the discussion section it was getting ridiculous. Now folks can go thru the postings and see if anyone has the tomato varieties they want, post their trade lists, etc. and it's all in one place. Comments (5)I don't know the name of it, but I can tell you to get rid of it. I had it in a garden and it multiples like crazy, doesn't respond well to weed killers, and I think those tiny flowers must have a billion seeds that all seem to sprout. I hand pulled it for seven years and never got rid of it. I have since seen it in pots at nursery centers and I think that's how I introduced it to my garden. Now I remove the top 3" of soil from any plant I purchase....See Moregardendawgie
