How odd, both yours and the ones in the woods. I've got a dribble of unhappy 'Langtrees' that are under some ever-larger paper birches that continue to flower every year despite diminishing overall. Some barely-still-there 'Alba' have also continued to bloom under an Alaska cedar/purple filbert overburdon. Thank you, I will keep my eyes open for the FedEx man! :) Tally, tell them the tale of the seedlings that got thrown away over the winter because they looked weak or let the spider mites get to them *shudder* - that should straighten them out! HAHA! PickledPink- aw man! Sorry to hear they aren't performing, it could also just be the seeds! In the beginnng it's a little tricky getting the moisture right but once they germinate they get much tougher & can handle fluctuations in moisture & heat much better. Don't give up! I don't know what is really making them bloom-at first I thought it was just the Penang Peach seeds but then a couple other varieties got going. Whenever I receive seeds from someone, unless they are already named varieties, I name them after the giver. Two of them are over 1 foot tall, and have buds starting. The tallest is about 13 inches, with a 2+ inch caudex! This one is now in a 10 inch pot. The tallest one had buds before, but lost them with all the rain. More formed, so I should have flowers to show you soon.

Sound good, Candice. I'd give them a weak feeding every time you water, and once in a while flush them with clean water to help against fertilizer build up. You may want to angle these two to the best, longest sunlight exposure you can get. Some plants just need more sun or more feeding than others. Pruning may help for shape and branching but I doubt it'll make any impact for whether they flower or not. Sometimes we just have to be patient because some are slower to mature.
