silly question concerning propagation of banana plant

I need several small banana seedlings of a hard to obtain form. I have a few of these banana plants growing in my yard.

If I dug up the root ball of one it would resemble a basketball with the root system on the bottom side looking like mop strings. lol.

Could I clip those root strings and plant them in the propagation chamber like others here do for getting roots started ? I told you this was a silly question.

This would be an early christmas present for me if I could actually take ROOT pieces and get them to grow in the germination chamber and become badly needed seedlings. I dont want to try this unless someone thinks its possible. Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
