Garden Restoration

How do you spell 'relief'?

N-E-W G-A-R-D-E-N-E-R, that's how! At last my current position at Hillwood has been split into two, so that I can concentrate on the Japanese-style Garden and do some future restoration work that still remains. I know it will take a couple of months for the interminable hiring process, but at least there's hope!

I always thought it was spelled R-O-L-A-I-D-S.

Anyway, congratulations Fran and just devour anything on Japanese gardening that you can until the new position is filled. In the mean time, may Japanese stone lanterns illuminate your dreams of your masterpiece to come.

Dogs pick up and key on body position and slight movements. When many people form habits, they also adopt movements that predede those habits. Subtle body movements are an integral part of dog to dog communication. It is totally natural for dogs to sense an action from their humans action. And time of day can also be important. Example: I have a recliner. If I collapse the foot rest in the afternoon between about 4PM to 6PM, both dogs jump up in anticipation of being fed. They used to jump and run to their places. But, they have learned I may not be going to feed them. So, they just jump up, ready if I give the indication I am going to feed them. Which is simply that I now look at one of them. The look signals the dog at which I look that I am going to feed. That dog's action triggers the other one. If I don't look at either one, they lay back down before I even get out of the chair.

Amy, I wasn't going to add any more to this thread (somehow I got singled out here, and I'm not sure why), but I want to respond to your post. Honestly, I've never noticed errors of any kind in your posts. My impression of you is an intelligent, insightful, talented person. I think if we go back to the original post, we'll see that the comments were about the texts, not the writers. All we were saying is that we scroll on by some posts rather than try to figure them out. On a Lyme Disease forum I belong to, people are asked not to post in long paragraphs because those with Lyme find it difficult to track a train of thought if it isn't broken up into smaller chunks. That certainly is true of me--though I don't know if I can blame it on Lyme--and it's one of the things we were talking about.

When we studied Indian tribes of North America, back in the dark ages of elementary school when such things were taught as part of American history, tipi was used. If you go to most native American sites today you will still see it in use but tepe, tee pee and tepee are accepted in common use also.

everything! word, email, typing anywhere. window comes up, and if I don't catch it right away, all writing disappears, I know how to get that back, but why do I have to go thru the misery of spell check taking it away. using 7 as my operating system, been so darn good lately, I have endured long enuf now, would like some results.

Fran, I just visited the Hillwood website for the first time tonight to get info about reservations. I think many other folks on this forum would enjoy seeing the section of the site that explains and documents the restoration work done there -- how cool that it is on the website! It also gives us all a better idea of exactly why you have been so sorely in need of relief!

Thanks, everyone! If you ever visit, I'll be hiding down in the Japanese-style Garden, doing endless pruning and cleanup!
