Impulse buyer needs further info

Hi All:

I need some clarification that I have searched for but haven't come up w/a clear answer. My plumeria is a 50% off Lowe's plant as some may remember that I purchased in mid-August. I have since transplanted it from the 3 gal container to a pot, mixing the cactus & perlite as directed w/some fertilizer granuals 8-8-8, on purpose so that the plant would not be overfertilized as the soil has lots of nutrients & I'm doing this in Sept., close to tapering off time. There was probably 3 - 4 inches of the cutting under the soil. This seemed illogical so I looked up container planting in my Plumeria book. The advice was to not plant the roots deeply and very little of the cutting should be under soil since nothing but roots grows from the bottom & this also can avoid rot. I did that. I was surprised that the roots didn't seem brittle at all. They seemed long and fine, though I didn't mess w/the root ball much. The advice was to next mix up a measured amount of ST to a gal of water & thoroughly water the plant. I did. Since we were in the middle of some still very hot days in Sept. this did not strike me as unwise as we were HOT & dry, 17 - 20% humidity.

I misted am & pm. I haven't watered again as the soil is still damp, the weather changed to much cooler suddenly, though sunny. I brought the plant in a couple of evenings that were going down to 48. My concerns: I have had two leaves turn ylw and die, one branch is a little wrinkly & a tad soft. It appears that two more leaves are turning but I have many new leaves coming up. My soil probe, a $7.00 Lowe's model indicates the soil is wet, very hard to believe with sun daily, 70 - 80 dgs, plenty of drainage. Do I have a problem? Should I be doing anything more?

Also, I would think that it would be so helpful if a How To Step List could be created by the experts at this site that includes all the little extras that you have found to improve the performance of our plumerias. I was able to spend a good chunk of time searching past posts and putting in searches of my own. I have found many things that I wish I knew when I was first looking for info. Ex:Bills bottle planting idea, Epsom salts in spring, rooting powder, a clear routine of watering, how much, and the same for fertilizer & Super Thrive. A very basic guide to problems/solutions also. Over on the Organic Lawn site, two of the guys (experts)put together a Step Guide for an Organic Lawn. They posted it to show up when a search was done at that site. Very helpful.

Additionally some may find interesting the article on the use of Hydrogen Peroxide H202 and Plumeria as well as an additional article on Hydrogen Peroxide and Horticulture at www.socalplumeriacare.com/Faq7.htm Peroxide seems to be a product no gardener should be without. Fascinating.

Thanks for any and all help.
