Comments (2)the answer to your first question is preference, i think. i've left plantlets to grow together into a larger clump and it IS a lot more attractive. for the second question, i usually just leave the mother leaf to wither away, but you can also trim it down when you get a healthy sized plantlet. -ming...See MorePlanting Begonia Rex leaf cuttings
Comments (2)Libby, if they are truly "rotting" it may be that you have them too wet. Alternatively, they may just need some protection from the dryness of the heated air in the house. Try covering one loosely, maybe with a clear plastic bag, for a couple weeks until the plantlet gets a chance to set some more roots.I use the foil cake trays with clear plastic lids as nurseries and have pretty good luck. Comments (3)I don't think you have enough roots to plant it now. I've done water cuttings of various plants over the past few years. When you do pot it up, I wouldn't do anything to the top of it. That is the part that is giving the plant light and energy to grow....See Morekelli
