I was unhappy with this Chocolate Habanero...

So I dug it up and put it in a container ;-)

This is the smaller of two Chocolate Habs that I started this Spring, and it has been languishing

ever since I transplanted it to the garden. Well, after thinking about it for a couple days, I decided

to take drastic measures. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

I dug up the root-ball, plopped it into a 1-gallon container, and rinsed the soil out the bottom.

Then I immediately filled around the roots with some mix that I had on-hand - mostly Perlite, with some

fir bark, quartz, and turface. I added some Osmocote and a pinch of Dolomitic Lime, as well.

Now it's up on the deck with my other potted peppers, hiding in the shade of a massive Bih leaf.

I think I'll eventually give this plant to my buddy Jason, the guy who shared the Chocolate Hab seeds

with me last year. He doesn't have any Choc's this year, and he's moving into a new apartment,

so perhaps I can present this as a house-warming gift.

You know there's something wrong when a Black Pearl looks like a monster next to your Hab ;-)

I'll let you know how it goes!
