April --what shrubs could be propagated? Timing Q.

I just came across this forum. I have a big farm property with NO shrubs except for some overgrown foundation plantings and if I'm going to make any headway, I think growing my own non-trademarked plants is the way to go. Old fashioned plantings would fit in well.

I was wondering if there are any shrubs (or woody perennials) that could be propagated this month here in zone 6 (upper MD and SE PA)

It might be nice to make a propagation monthly calendar for the FAQ that could be adjusted by region.

Second question: How much leeway does one have between taking the cutting and putting it into your propagation medium. My Mom in the south has a particular plant I'd like a cutting from and it would need to be mailed.
