I was flipping channels and saw the food netork was broadcasting a show on hotsauce.

I was amazed at the 7.1 million scouville unit sauce they were all eating.

I love hot and all the ways to get it and seeing a show like this i am sure that hot peppers and sauces will be the next new trend.

we will see???

other than that all my plants are good with a few exceptions ..... damm aphids!!

I have some habs and pepper fish starting to produce and a wack of yellow sweet peppers .

all my long red cayenne are taking there time to go red but are doing good.

Is anyone watching Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares? I saw a few episodes of this in England this past summer, and now he is doing an American version. I know he has a foul mouth and a violent temper. I've never watched Hell's Kitchen cause watching a grown man yell at and demean people and throw pots and pans isn't my idea of entertainment. But so far he has been absolutely spot on with his observations and criticisms of some of the American eating establishments he has visited and turned around. He seems very perceptive about the weak spots at each restaurant and knows exactly who to point the finger at!

OMG!!! I think he is just stunning!! It was 5 years ago and Tyler was appearing at a local Book and the Cook fair in a nearby city. I was a complete mess at the time. My father was very ill in the hospital and on his final days and I was SICK with a nasty flu bug and truth be told I did not want to go but Frank got me the tix so we went....He made some sort of salmon from his cook book and if you bought the book at the show you could meet him so while I was watching the show (barely able to stand mind you) Frank went off and bought the book and stood in line for me so that when the show was over I would get to meet him and he could get me home. I have to say maybe it was the flu or the drugs or something because I am a very social person able to drum up a conversation with a rock and all that would come out of my mouth was "I really like your show". Thats it! I did get a picture where I look like I'd been run over by a bus but we still laugh about it to this day!! I've met a few chefs and never have I had the jitters like I did with Tyler!! Oh, way different Liira!!! We don't get a lot of the shows that they do! You have to go to foodnetwork.ca to see our scheduled shows. A number of people on the cooking forum commented they don't like her voice. Wonder what it's like....high, low, strong accent? It's funny how you imagine someone to sound and when they talk, it's a turn-off.

ROTFL!! I'm with you, Mike. But my regular daily cooking is often about a treasure hunt for what's on hand. The only thing on your list that I have is barley, and I could make soup, or biscuits, or a mixed dish in the nature of couscous, out of that, staples and "refrigerator velcro" as Johnliu would say. I do enjoy the weird ingredients when they're actual food, however, like strange Asian fruits and fish from a Chinese chef. Nothing I'd eat, let alone cook, but skill is skill and I still learn something. I have absolutely no need to learn to cook with gummy bears. :) I miss the days of Sarah Moulton on Food Network where she kept a recipe going while answering phone questions. Amazing! Nowadays, they didn't even give the finalists of their win a show contest a choice of format--they were only allowed to go to restaurants to talk food. Feh! There are actual cooking shows on Cooking Channel, but a lot of them are weird or very basic. What I'm curious about is what was the name of the tv show on Food Channel?

wack= when you lift your tshirt to make a place to hold them and it is full.

Problem is, in the real world there is an Oil of Capsicum that is 16,000,000 shu's

This is made by boiling out everything but oil of capsicum from Red Savina's

The stuff is available in some states from drug stores. It's behind the counter and you must sign for it...

A very strong suggestion, don't use it unless red savina's or choc habs are no longer hot enough on your eggs or first cup of coffee.

I think the key here is.. ONE DROP PER POT OF CHILI.

...or jar of hot sauce
...or jar of BBQ sauce
etc...

There is no way in hell they were eating straight 7.1 million scoville sauce. Come to think of it, that sounds like an appropriate punishment IN hell.. lol

Keep in mind that eating even a small jar of that 7.1mil stuff could KILL a healthy person... easily.

Now.. that said.. hot is good, and I can see how that stuff could be LOADS of fun in the kitchen. Just gotta warn the friends when they come over to try the concoctions.

Which I've tried. At Mild to Wild Pepper & Herb Co. owner's (Jim Campbell) house along with some other chile-heads. Ho hum...

I saw the show. They put a drop of "The Source" pepper extract on a cracker or something and then ate that. This was after a day of trying a lot of different kinds of hot sauce, and these were the survivors who made it to the end. One person who ate the sauce had his lower lip, from about the point of his chin up to the corners of his mouth, turn all purple and bruised looking. None of them really seemed to enjoy the experience too much. It's probably like getting hit with a strong dose of pepper spray like the police carry.

my girlfriend picked me up some hot sauce in PA that apparently you need to sign a liability waiver for.. probably marketing gimmick, but it piqued my curiousity :)
