columbusguy, the plaster walls/ceiling on our second floor rooms (where I'm working now) have some issues that need to be repaired, so I don't think just leaving the wallpaper is an option. Luckily, on our first floor that plaster was in good shape with well-adhered painted-over wallpaper, so I just gave it a new coat. I felt a little guilty doing it, but it looks fine. carol, my only company now is a radio and the dog...I wonder who I could talk into helping me. Diane and lolaz, I've been bonding with my paper tiger. It really does make a difference. mrsrichards, I hadn't even thought about scaffolding. We already own some! I need to take some measurements and see if we can get it up the stairway. That could make the job much easier. One of the biggest problems I'm having working on the ceiling is that I can't get the same angles and force because I'm twisting on a ladder over my head. brickeyee, drywall stilts!?! Are you trying to kill me? I am using a 4" razor knife, but I bet my blade is dull. I've been using the same blade for a long, long time. OK, time to try out all your suggestions. Thanks!!

Update: I spoke to someone in customer service yesterday and they are working on getting my order out. I received one wt this a.m. out of the 6 ordered. I asked for a discount because they did not live up to the shipping guarantee as promised and am awaiting word on that because she needs to speak to a higher up. In the meantime, they called this a.m. to let me know that the thermal liner I ordered on 1 shade is not available and that I'd have to change my option on that one. It is 3 weeks after my order, so I am disappointed that they are just noticing that now. I was under the impression from the above posting and email I received that my order was being taken care of, only to find out another detail had slipped through the cracks. I am trying to be patient but I have had too many snafus in too short a time period. The fact that my kitchen was only half delivered last week and then I got stood up yesterday on the redelivery, and since I was shorted on my kitchen/den floor, which install has now been delayed until Fri, it is hard not to be very testy. I have been dealing with customer services, missing time at work and neglecting other things that need doing. We are so close, yet so far from done. I will keep you posted how this gets resolved.

You can find things you like on their websites and often a store or a decorator in your area can order it for you. Have you tried Scalamander's website? There are several, just persist.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Mine is/was similar. I found several layers of wallpaper, with a skim coat in between, and then under that, it seems to have been applied directly to drywall. I have removed a lot of wallpaper in the past, but I ended up damaging the drywall in one room so badly, we decided to hire someone. I had several contractors come through who looked at the amount of wallpaper and wouldn't do it! One guy was willing and he starts this morning so I will see what magic he uses. If he has any tips, I will share.
