I have 3 Scotch bonnet pepper plants in pots. They are doing great and growing very well. (They are from seeds planted 2-9-06). They are each about 2.5 feet tall and 2 feet wide. One plant has already given us 4 really nice red peppers. However, all 3 plants always have tons of flowers on them, yet only a handful become peppers. Question: Should I be hand-pollinating these flowers because the plants are inside a screened-in patio, hence, no insects. Could this be the reason why there are so many flowers yet no fruit? I hope this isn't a dumb question. Maybe the flowers are self-pollinating? Any help would be hugely appreciated!
