Deer love carrots and beets.

My lovely 50 ft row of half grown carrots lost their tops, all their tops to deer last week. Ditto the sparse row of beets next to them. Then they went after the volunteer lettuce, aptly named deer tongue lettuce and what had to be the bitterest endive imaginable left from a spring mesclun planting. But they left the dill, the turnips, rutabagas, and arugula, as well as a very few snippets of red lettuce and a bit of spinach, which was interspersed with arugula.
