Yikes! didn't want to drown them, but they seemed dry to me... I did take them out of the water, shook off the excess and wrapped the roots up in plastic bags...it's supposed to stop snowing late tonight, hopefully the soil will dry out a bit so i can plant tomorrow. I thought about heeling them into my nursery bed, but they're calling for a low of 20 tonight, and they've all broken bud. THey're from Gurney's, and the trees look really nice. Don't want to plant them in their permanent spot because it's been snowing/raining for 5 days straight, and i just hate the idea of working such wet soil....they're going into one end of the garden i broke sod on last year, and i wanted to do a bit of ammending, too. I live on a glacial sand moraine, my next-door neighbor is a gravel pit, excessively well-drained is an understatement. MAN oh man am I glad I didn't order the other 10 trees yet!!! THanks!

Well actually, I don't usually do the salt water with home-grown eggplants as I find they do not have the bitterness at all. Much better that way than store bought. Looks like my dinner plans have changed so I went ahead and froze all the eggplant now anyway (shrugs). Thanks for the input. ANn

Where'd you get the recipe? Without simmering it for about 3 or 4 minutes, the cornstarch will settle in the bottom and form a sludge that will be hard to re mix.

How many hours a day do you have them on? That could be part of the issue if you have them on throughout the day. We haven't replaced ours (incandescent ) for years, but we rarely have them on and they are on a dimmer, so we rarely have them full-on. We are very careful about turning lights out when we aren't in a room. I would not go with CFL (hazardous waste as discussed in other threads), but would give LED a try. I am going to start switching over as lights burn out, but will replace all the cans in kitchen/keeping room to LED at the same time.
