In my experience, definitely not too late. The only minor problem i forsee is what i call Chinense transplant shock where they sit in the soil, doing nothing, for two weeks.

At the very least you'd get a late August and September crop, and if the weather cooperates, the last pods would ripen in October. That's nearly two months of harvesting.

I would think that in zone 7 you have plenty of time yet. Those are really great looking plants.

I don't think you'll have time...but then, my plants are notoriously late here in northern California. My superhots don't begin setting until late July, and the pods don't show ripening until mid-September. For your sake, I'd love to be proven wrong. If you have a cold-frame or greenhouse, you could harvest indoors over the Winter.

Usually I do not remove the first soil from the roots but I do not like Coco Coir because it is water retentive and not good for the second containers. It is very easy to remove Coco Coir from the roots without any root damage.

Great set of roots, but I also dislike coco coir.
It has a fairly high pH and potassium content, as well, which can make fertilization more tricky. Good move.

Josh, the pH level would come down to under 6.0. This container soil is pH 5.0 the plant is Scorpion she is the biggest and got a lot of pods.

I have planted some garlic as companion plants :-)

I'm not so sure you should be asking questions. It's obvious you're experienced, because your plants are beautiful. I think I should be asking for your help! Great looking plants! I hope you're able to harvest pods from all of them.

Caelian: you need to give a tutorial -- beautiful and perfect seedlings. Lights, medium, ferts, etc.

Kevin, I am not that good, just my luck. I do not know how the pH level down to 5.0, it is stable. I have been trying to find out, if I found I will post here. Still now I do not know much about fertilization and insecticide/pesticide, I cannot stand to see when my plants were infested with bugs/disease and nutrient deficiency. Still I have to learn a lot from all of you. Thank you for your questions.

Really? My good BJs set early this month and are already nearly full size. Ripen? Don't know when. Nagas and the good Trinidads (especially Congo) about the same.

Your problem must be the bad karma in California from the hateful referenda you folks keep passing (a la SCOTUS). (Long live Scalia - someone clone him!)
