Thanks for your reply, Donna and Quimoi! Quimoi, I didn't know even where to start looking until you told me a few names that I can look up (I love AVs but am not an experienced collector). So I looked up Optimara, Rhapsodie and Millenia, and guess what... mine has to be a Optimara Millenia!!! I saw a close up picture on Grownotes.com (which I can't add here because it says "copyright") and took a close up picture of mine (below), put them side by side, and they look strikingly the same! Well I'm so glad that I at least can call it by a name, as I hate calling all my AVs "NOID"s ("hey you, NOID1, hey you NOID2 :-) I seem to be able to spot really pretty ones at the stores, but there is never a name on the plant. Looks just a bit like my 'Daisy Wilcox', when it just opens (it fades quickly to all white and a bit of yellow in the center). The buds are pink before they open. But I'm sure there are scores of varieties that yours could be. My Daisy Wilcox:

I hope they had it in a discard pile for composting. It's all splayed out because it's past i's prime for display. The cyathia do that when they're at full floral maturity, and it's broken off as well. You just got the stub of what was once a nice, fully branched out plant. Yes, you can keep it alive and can keep it pinched off to a houseplant size, but if you do manage to do it, the stem gets fatter and woodier each year and it's a hassle. The leaves usually all drop off and start again, and it can be put outside come frost free weather, but you'll have to take it in each year when it gets cold. If you want to do it for a lark, just out of curiosity and see if you can make it beautiful and full and bloom again, you can. 'how to' is all over the internet. Trust me, if you do it once and succeed, you'll probably never do it again. LOL.
