motion sensor sprinkler -anyone tried it?

I am having a serious problem with unwanted guests, both squirrels and neighbors, taking my tomatoes. This motion-sensor sprinkler was suggested to me as a deterrent, and I was wondering if anyone here had tried it. Sounds great...I'd love to see the thieves soaking wet!

Only effective for a short period of time. Animals, both wild and two legged, are pretty smart and will figure ways around this device. Save your money.

I've got one, and it deters me :) I have a way of forgetting it's there and walking withing range...and yes it does get the 'mover' quite wet, wet enough to want to change clothes.

I don't know how long it would be effective for persons not otherwise distracted, unless the noise it makes and their startled scream would embarrass them to the point they would stay away unless invited....I really haven't heard of it being used in that application - intentionally. My neighbor tells me it evoked a loud profanity from the utility meter reader the day she walked unknowingly in front of it and I wasn't home :)

It is very effective on wildlife and neighborhood cats, but I find even deer seem to have short memories. When you put it away, they are back again - but during the time its set in place it does protect from browsing and digging.

I removed mine 2 weeks ago so that I could plow and plant my fall garden. The next day the deer tracks were everywhere! I put them back and no more deer tracks! Tish, I use regular batteries in mine and they last about 1 month. But I have deer and other animals triggering them often. If I let the batteries die accidentally, the deer will raid my garden the first night, sometimes during the day! I have started changing them every 30 days just to be sure. I get them cheap from Battery Specialists, my company has an account with them and they give me the same 25% discount on cash sales. I also save the possible good ones for my nonessential gadgets.

Thanks, all! It looks like it works quite well for moving "entities" that come within its perception range. I like that it rotates from side to side. MNG I watched your short YouTube video and then the others showing animals fleeing from motion activated sprinklers. It sure seems like a good "chaser-away".

I've had 9250 dryer for over two years. Sensor has always worked very well on every cycle chosen and on every setting (more or less dry) selected. I've learned I can absolutely depend on it. It's an expensive dryer. If it isn't performing like should -- like mine does -- I'd check it out. I hate things that don't work. The "bulky" cycle is a little different. Check you manual. Believe it uses moderate heat and longer time for bulky items because of thickness/density of bulkier items like sleeping bags or comforters or pillows. The outer coverings dry more quickly than the thicker internal parts. This characteristic can sometimes "fool" the sensor which is contacting the outer covering only. For items like those, I generally let them finish outside or let them rest and then re-tumble. Still, mine does very well with it -- better than you have described. For single-layered items (pretty much everything else...towels, jeans, etc.) the sensor is spot-on.

Randy427 - I know it is the click that scares her because I've seen her jump in response to it. The cabinet is in a bathroom which has a ceiling fan, which is also on a motion sensor, and it no longer scares her. I wanted to put the fan in the cabinet on a timer so that it would start a certain amount of time after using the box but I have two cats and there is no guarantee that the fan wouldn't be on when either one tried to use the box - so they have to get used to the fan. I think if I could get rid of the click I could acclimate her to the fan (the fan itself is in the attic and, although it still makes noise, I think she would get used to it because she is used to the ceiling fan). But cause the click puts her on edge to begin with, getting her used to the fan is proving to be a challenge.
