Good places to buy seeds

Hi everybody,
I was on the point to buy seeds from pepper joe for a budget of $150.
After googling the name I came to this website and I have read many messages of experienced people that say to avoid pepper joe.
Others suggested other sites some are specialized in tomatoes or other vegetables.
But the majority of these messages are outdated
From your personal experiences, please tell me what are the websites for hot chili pepper seeds
NB: I'm not talking about any advertisement but just your personnal experience.

please list which pepper varieties you're looking for.

you'll find many members of this forum, myself included, will happily give away seeds for free (we generally have lots to spare).

so, what's a good place to get seeds? right here!

The guy lives in Algeria.
Postage could suck big time.

I'd avoid Pepper Joe if I was you...

Rainbow Chilli seeds has a cool collection,Tomato Growers is also OK.

your local county soil conservation district sells small cheap plants ... something like 25 for $16 or so ... the time to order is most likely right now ... google your county, state and SOIL CONSERVATIONS DIST ... or check the white pages under US GVMT ... if you start from seed... i would think you would be 2 to 5 years.. before you could plant them out in a field and expect any amount of success ... good luck ken

One important thing to know about the site is what is the soil like, and how dry does it get. If the site is a dry one, I'd expect you have trouble growing grass there, or whatever has planted itself there is growing poorly, or with bare ground in between the plants. A moister soil would support fairly dense grass and weeds, if the slope has been there a few years. There are tons of good choices for either a wet or dry site, but some of the plants would be different. For your first year, I'd definitely include some annuals (which of course bloom the first year) or perennials that bloom the first year. Clasping coneflower is great for most sites, but doesn't like really dry conditions. Black eyed Susans can also bloom the first year, if planted early. Monarda punctata is a nice first-year bloomer. There are other good choices as well, but don't overlook the first year. Many perennials don't bloom until the second year.

I just recieved the seeds I bought from The Chilli Seed Company www.chileseeds.co.uk They carry a pretty good variety as well as the hard to find Red Savina. A good site to check out is www.gardenwatchdog.com You can search various different vendors and read user ratings for these. You'll notice that Reimers has a low rating as you would expect. It's a good site to get info on a vender your concidering purchasing from and also a way to find venders you weren't aware of with high ratings. Beth at Peppermania has a good rep becasue she's gives great friendly service and has a passion for peppers like we do. She also stops by and posts on this board from time to time.

Hi. Well a lot of people on here helped THIS 'newbie' for the past few weeks, to find the Bhut Jolokia pepper seeds,and its relatives, the SUPER hot peppers. IF you want those..go to ushotstuff.com for those seeds. "Uncle Steve' there, has sent me my seeds in less than 6 days total! I just got them in the mail. He has many different HOT HOT pepper seeds for sale. I am told by others that he sends out VERY good quality seeds. So,I bought 25 Naga Jolokia pepper seeds from him for $12,and $3 shipping. Others on here will trade you for seeds of your own if you have any,or other plants or seeds, if you have a trade list. I am waiting for several trades to come in the mail right now. I am finally going to grow HOT peppers. I thought I was growing hot peppers....but NOW i will have HOT peppers!!! so ask people here and go to USHOTSTUF.COM good places to start.

As @smokemaster_2007 said I live in Algeria (southern part of the mediteranean) and we only have two varieties of peppers (cayenne and bull's horn).
Therefore, there are a lot of varieties I don't know well and want to have fun growing them.
Jalapeno, Habanero, piri piri seem to be Ok to begin with.

Also if you know a good place in Europe that sells good quality peppers It will be easier for shipping.

The Scandinavians especially seem to be into peppers. Check out fatalii.net and fataliiseeds.net.

Try "Pepperseeds.eu", "Nicky's-Nursery.uk", even the "theChili Factory.com" in Au.

A lot of vendors willing to ship to your area. I just Googled a few for you.

Welcome aboard!

I sent some seed to Hungary last season, and it was just standard postage...a couple American stamps. Maybe I got lucky...?

I've successfully sent seeds to Eastern Europe, South America and Australia in the past. I'm willing to give the Southern Mediterranean a shot ;-)

Yeah, Josh makes a good point. If you ship First Class Letter, then postage to Timbuktu isn't bad at all. It's when you start shipping packages that you have to mortgage the children.

You can put a lot of seeds in a "letter".
