Guillots Sunset Blooming and question at bottom

With all the storms gone for awhile, Guillots Sunset decided to quickly put out its inflo. I snapped these as I was leaving for my vacation Tuesday when only 1 flower was open. Today, There are 3 open. Simply beautiful. The flowers are adorable! The scent is delicious! Enjoy..

This is on the bottom of one of my plumies! I cant figure out what it is. Can someone tell me what it is? The brown part isnt soft or squishy, Its actually quite hard and looks terrible!

Pretty bloom. Did you ever have pebbles against the stem while it was exposed to hot weather? If so maybe it's from a burn. I've had a few plumies burned from pea gravel and it looks similar though mine only showed damage where the pebbles were actually touching the stem.

it looks like it looks like it didn't get enough water but its only in that one spot is it wrinkling anywhere else, also did you put a needle in to see if the sap is flowing i had a dead cutting that looked like that

Be very careful. I bought a 'Madam Galan' Trumpet vine which was supposed to be "less invasive." It went totally crazy in our sandy soil and all efforts to completely eliminate it have been unsuccessful. That said, the only way I could see containing an "invasive" trumpet vine, even if it were in a pot, would be if the pot was placed on concrete. The plant's roots will grow out of the holes in the bottom of the pot and will escape and send runners all over your yard if you plant it near soil. Googled Balboa Sunset Trumpet vine and can see why you are tempted. Blooms on my vine were orange but the Balboa looms appear a lovely red. "Be afraid, very afraid"...kind of a Halloween vine. We've been pretty consistently hot and sunny - upper 80s to low-mid 90s during the day. Nights are in the low to mid 60s. Only a couple days of June gloom so far, really. The color change in the JJ plumeria from the store to home has been amazing - you can even see it in the Dulcemia picture that I posted above.

That is a Guillot's Sunset which is from one of my several plants grown from cuttings given to me from the original 55 year old tree in Bud Guillot's yard so there is no question. In hot, humid conditions the pink is darker, while in drier conditions it is softer. It is a heavy bloomer when established and mine bloom mostly in August and September. Bill

hmm it might be from the green metal twisties I had there. I need to buy the green tape stuff!
Thortons Lemondrop and Celadine are also blooming! I'll have to take some pictures tonight. Thanks for your advice!

Some plumeria is susceptible to sun burn while others do not. Is the oposite side of the burned area green? If so, you can leave it as is and move it to another area to avoid causing further sun burn. What I sometime will do is to add more soil to the pot until it covers the burned area. But if it is sun burned all around, then I would cut and re-root. Best wishes for a great growing season!!

One of these days I'd like to create a Photo Gallery of Plumeria problems. I've probably seen most of all of them!! LOL! I think it would benefit many readers. Whether it's stem rot, black tip, sun burn, or spider mite damage, a picture is often worth a thousand words.
