Insecticidal soap hurting leaves of various plants?

Hi im just wondering if its possible for commercial insectical soap(1%) to damage leaves on plants on repeat uses? I mainly use the soap to spot kill earwigs i see on my plants at night(quite a few) i use a small spray bottle to spray the earwigs i see on the leaves not the whole plant and i do this every night or every other night and i noticed some of the leaves on the plants are turning yellowish or paleish and some of them have brown spots, or holes where parts of the leaves died i figure it must be from the soap since its various plants not just one type, Morning Glorys, Dahlia, Bell Peppers. Im wondering if soap can do this and if i can do anything to prevent it from doing this as its the only way i have found to spot kill earwigs easily, i have set up bait traps for the earwigs as well so im trying other methods also. Should the soap be rinsed off after spraying the bugs or will that not prevent it from harming the leaves?

Thank you for the help!
