I read about that Bhut story, LOL! I also read that in India they use it as elephant deterrent; they smeared this bhut jolokia chili paste on the fences. If I have enough peppers I want to grind them up and spray them on the plant to keep the pest muncher away, but with my little nephew running around that would be a bad idea. Another seedling has been a casualty of being munch by a slug this morning, there were no trace that a plant is even there! In another pot, a slug is slowly dying because of the Diatomaceous earth, its body is covered and oozing with slime [evil grin]. The good news is I thought all the seeds of the Bhut Jolokia has sprouted, but I was wrong. I think about 5 new seeds has sprouted.

Was just at the biggest nursery in town looking for something else when I stopped by one of the prep stations to ask for some help. Noticed some heavy duty plastic transplant trays (well, heavy duty for your normal semi-reusable/disposable trays that is) that looked very much like the speedling trays. Only instead of being perfect pyramids they were more like the old fashioned elongated trapazoidal popsicle molds. Nice grooves down the sides, good air pruning holes in the bottom, each cell probably 2 inches by 3 inches, each try with 30 cells (5x6). Asked them if they had anything like it for sale. Said they were the empties from where one of the supliers had sent them a shipment of lilies. One employee thought the supplier wanted them back, but called the manager to see if they had anything close to it for sale. Manager said to just give me the empties. I said thank you, took the stack (only wanted one, but they gave me the full half dozen trays) and got out of there before somebody had time to change their minds. =) Can't wait for my second round of bhuts to sprout so I can put them over into one of these trays. I'll try to get pictures tonight when I get home.

That is for sure not a Bhut Plus side is you gained working experience thru all this Bhuts are an OK strain to work with,hardly at the top of the Super ranks but still respectable heat. There are many other strains out here that will put even the best of bhut strains to same at the SHU level. Someone mentioned it back up the thread somewhere and it is very much incorrect,for novice eaters "its good enough",but both the heat and flavor are comparatively lacking compared to many other super strains currently available. Ahh yes, the Naga / Jolokia naming game ;-) The Nagas / Jolokias go by MANY different names including Nagahari, Bhut Jolokia, Bih Jolokia, Borbih, Raja Mircha, Raja Chilli, Mirch, Mircha, Naga Moresh, Naga Morich, Tezpur, and Dorset Naga. It's easy to get confused as to what is what. Here's some info I saved from a pepper site a few years ago. Bhut Jolokia, Bih Jolokia, Naga Jolokia, Naga Morich, Raja Mirchi ... what's the deal with all those different names you can read in print and on the Internet these days for supposedly the very same chile variety? We asked someone who should know best: Leena Saikia of Frontal Agritech, a pepper grower and processing company in Assam that also grows and cultivates Bih Jolokia. Here's what Leena told me: All these chillies are from North East India. They belong to Capsicum chinense. In fact, Naga jolokia, Nagahari, Bhut jolokia, Bih jolokia or Borbih jolokia are the same chilli but named differently at different places. For example, the Assamese community call it as Bih jolokia (poison chilli -- jolokia means chilli in Assamese), Bhut jolokia (probably due to its ghostly bite or introduction by the Bhutias from Bhutan poison chilli) or Naga jolokia (due to extreme hotness representing the aggressive temperament of the warriors of neighbouring Naga community). In Nagaland and Manipur states, it is known as Raja Mircha or Raja chilli (King of Chillies). In major Indian languages, chilli is known as Mirch or mircha (Bengali and Hindi). Morich" may be a distorted version of 'mirch'. With respect to C. chinense Bih and Bhut difference, I recall reading that Bihs had some C.frutescens genes and Bhuts had some C.annuum genes. I think either name, Naga or Jolokia, works as long as you're describing a group of C. chinense pepper varieties from the Assam region of India. The different names come into play when you narrow them down to mutations that exhibit specific traits i.e. Naga Morich being plumper and shorter than longer Bhut Jolokias. Just my 2 cents.
