No idea about growing it in Michigan, but here in NM it's one of the more common seedless varieties other than straight vinifera types. It supposedly does well here for most folks, and survived our crazy Feb cold snap of -23 in my yard last winter, but my young vines have grown very slowly. The only fruit I tasted was the few grapes on one of the plants when I bought it. I thought the flavor was superb.

It is a Plumaria rubra but what named variety it is, is for an expert to say. There are so many and I am sure from country to country the variety names are all mixed up, as vetiver said try the plumaria people. chris

Hello iandyaz, late spring is best for cutting and planting. Wait till the new leaves are about 3 inches long then cut the main branch, let the new cutting dry and callous over, maybe 3,4 or 5 days. Then plant only 3 to 5 inches deep. The roots will take over for stability. I have rooted 2 inche thick branches as well. It all grows. Air layering is cool and grafting works even faster! Graft on to another plant and no waiting for roots to form Oh and the darker the color as in dark red, can take months to root. Cheers! Let me know in the spring how things go.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it...simply because plumeria love the sun. Lots of it. I have even kept them under grow lights and even that is only for the winter and not ideal. I do not think a plumeria can survive under only a flourescent light - they are not giving the plant enough of a full spectrum to keep it healthy. Even being grown indoors by a sunny window is not usually great. Seedlings are a lot of fun, I grow a lot of them myself, but if you want the best for it I would say an office is not a good place for it.
