The dreaded Rot, is there anything here worth trying to save?

Ok so I started off with a small cutting with 3 leaves that were going to be branches, one of them didn't make it so i ended up with a Frangipani with 2 little branches, then my green house blew over and one of the branch type things broke off, so i planted it in a mixture of pearlite and compost (mainly perlite) and put it on a radiator. all was going well, it was looking really good, better than the original plant!! It had roots and everything!! then disaster struck and it got knocked over again, don't know if it was the wind, the dog or the baby, either way, i put it back in the pot it was in which was a cut off 500ml plastic drinks bottle (so i could see the roots grow), it might have been a bit small but it was doing ok, then it started going soggy, I repotted it and gave it another week on the radiator but it was just getting worse. I read on here that if you stick a pin in it and it oozes white stuff then you're ok, it only started oozing white stuff when i got near the top, so i decided enough is enough and I took a knife to it, (I would have had less trouble deliberately cutting off one of my own fingers!!!, I don't know why but i have a strong emotional connection with my plummies and this is my first casualty!) So now I'm left with quite a short bit that still looks like it's got some rot in it, (please let it be rot, else I've cut up a perfectly good cutting!) shall i cut it some more and try again? or is it too short to do anything now? is there any hope? or am I trying in vain? I'll try and put in some pics so you can see what I'm talking about.

Big thanks in advance

PS, does anyone know of a good councellor?
